Honest answer though: Tell her how you feel. Say what you wrote here "she's the only friend I have". Try to voice some of your emotions. This sort of thing happens and therapists can deal with it.
The real problem is likely that you don't have other friends - so, you'd be like the girl who dates the next guy as soon as she goes through a painful breakup, without realizing she doesn't even really like that guy. You'd do her wrong by trying to date her and if you really do care about her, you probably shouldn't do that.

Love is biological and has certain conditions for happening. A Chad can purposely make hundreds of women fall in love with him whether they wanted to or not.
