I live in California so I don't get snow so rain is the most I hope for.

I get the same comfy feeling from being outside in the cold with a big jacket on, a scarf around my neck and mouth and gloves. And I don't know why but having a backpack on makes it even better.

You could use multiple light sheets for a roof, with books to hold them down. Then your heavy blankets are free for the floor. Use removable couch pieces for walls and so on. Wish I had a lava lamp to light the inside.
