Ok op. I can give you the answer right now. You just gotta do it, but you wont, because you dont want to be a hero, you just want to complain about it on the internet.
1.Begin fitness regimen
SS+Running more than 10km/day+Military PT prep calisthenics routine.
If fat, cut to 15% bf and recomp
If skele, bulk to 15% bodyfat and recomp
If skinnyfat, recomp
Do this for however long you need to get into military shape. Marine infantry is easy to get into, if you are already in shape, do this for a year or two and give SOF a try.
2.Enlist
Go to a recruiter, enlist. Get a contract, go to boot camp, etc
3.Soldier
At this point, youre a half hero. You will fight evil, but you wont save many people due to civvies being evaced from most places you fight. When you are around people, you act as a police officer, helping in every day life.
4.Become a hero
So you spent 2 years traveling the world, setting up positions, shooting people, building things, scouring for porn, and arm wrestling. Now you have experience. If you decided to go SOF, thats a career, do that shit for life, you will be a literal hero every day, and life will be great. But as an enlisted back home, you have another way to become a hero. See, there are groups around the globe, everywhere, that need people with military experience to fight for them. They will give you food, shelter, women, drink, and a good bit of cash to fight evils that governments do not have time for. Do the cruel acts of ISIS disgust you? Join pesh or YPG, they will give you kurdish qts and kebabs if you fight evil with them. How about the cartel, which has brought governments to its knees? While the corrupt governments turn a blind eye, vigilantes patrol the Colombian jungle and the Mexican deserts, looking for ways to disrupt shipments. Become a PMC, a mercenary and fight for fortune, make enough money to retire after 5 years, buy some land, and settle down.
But you dont want to be a hero.

You can be a hero, OP.
The problem is that the real world isn't like fantasy. In the real world, things aren't black and white, and the monsters aren't unambiguously evil. In the real world, the right thing isn't obvious, doing it won't get you a reward (quite the contrary), and people in general aren't on the side of good, being either neutral or mildly bad.
In the real world, being a hero will earn you no glamor. In the real world, simply defeating the final boss won't fix everything. In the real world, the authorities that people look up to as paragons of good will actually be against you should you try to be a hero.
But you can still be one. Let me give you one example. If one in every 12000 people were willing and brave enough to donate a kidney, there would never be a wait list for transplants. You can save a life, and you can be 1/12000 exceptional by doing so.
AIDS is something the world needs to be saved from. War is something the world needs to be saved from. Environmental catastrophe is something the world needs to be saved from. You can fight those if you actually want to be a hero.
What you can't do is just murderhobo your way to glory and riches and be a hero. That's not just impossible IRL, it's villainous.
