Most people in "civilized" society know more brands than plants.
as it should be you stupid fucking luddite
>>25169880
I seriously you are just joking.
brands are more pertinent in civilized society than plants
>>25170014
It is sad, but such is the world inside the matrix
So do you drive in your plant car and eat food from the plant store and work at the plant factory all day then watch plant shows on the plant screen then get on the plant powered internet and look at plants all day like us too?
hahah fuck off hippie faggot
go fuck an acorn
>>25170846
haha, you sure showed him buddy!
>>25170846
Well, now that you mention it, I'm quitting the internet for a while, maybe I'll enjoy that plant food and media. Good luck, robot boy.
>>25170849
>hippie
What is alchemy ?
>>25170892
don't know sounds gay though
more like assemy
>>25169863
It is sad. We live in a synthetic world manufactured for us by media giants.
>>25169863
And you're sharing this thought with us using a computer, not a fucking tree.
>>25170014
>Implying if we cared we couldn't just google it
it's fucking 2015 senpai
Why would I know a bunch of plants??
>b-but technology is bad or something...
Fuck off OP
>>25169863
im better than you because I have the entire periodic table memorized
KIDS THESE DAYS RIGHT?
RIGHT?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
>>25170954
I hope I never grow up
>>25169880
This. You anti-capitalist retards can go live in fucking Laos.
We're inundated with brands every day, they're shoved down our throats. Brand recognition happens against your will. Unless you work as a botanist, you won't know this stuff. But yeah, we probably should.
>>25170014
>Icons explicitly designed to be distinct and eye catching, representing corporations who influence our lives daily
vs
>Samefag looking leaves that aren't even important because they don't do anything particularly special
No shit that people recognize the left far more easily than the right?
>>25169863
Notice how OP is making a comment on consumerism, and the fagtards here and /r9k/ ASSUME he's bashing technology as a whole.
You guys are fucking retarded.
im sure your extensive plant knowledge has helped you a lot in life
Woodstock is over faggots :)
>>25171170
I don't read it as a comment on consumerism. I read it as a smug retort against people who aren't autistic enough to memorize names of trees based on their leaves; information that is of absolutely zero importance for the vast majority of western civilization to memorize. Whatever point OP may have wanted to make, his argument did not support it.
This is your future
>DAE NE1 ELSE THINK THAT THEY WERE BORN THE WRONG GENERATION???? UPVOTE IF YOU AGREE!
This is what you sound like and over something as meaningless as leaves. Maybe one day you'll figure out that people don't care about things that are insignificant to their daily lives, you autist.
>>25171213
There a lot of "unimportant" things in life but that doesn't mean you can not be benefited with that knowledge.
>>25171256
Go back to fuckbook if you don't like your shit life being challenged.
PROTIP: autistics don't like change.
>>25171256
>that are insignificant to their daily lives
Such as video games and celebrity gossip?
>>25171362
>learning the name of worthless leaves, not even any of the poisonous or edible variety, just common leaves
>being challenged
Has being so insulated numbed you that much that learning trivia that is trivial by even trivia standards makes you feel challenged?
>>25170014
Brands:
>Volkswagen
>Macdonoradu
>Nike
>Apple
>Gatorgolf
Plants:
>Leaf
>Leaf
>Leaf
>Leaf
>Leaf
>Pinecone (with stabby leaves)
>>25171526
>intense posterior inflammation
At least one of those is edible.
Knowing brands are the new plants. Even then I'm sure people didn't really know plants, they just used something like "this plant can do stuff I guess"
>society has changed and we have knowledge like this specialised so we can tap into it at any time without knowing it ourselves
The only thing modern society fails at is the rampant capitalism which gets us nowhere. Though then again, looks like capitalism is finally going to take us into space proper, fuck NASA
>>25171707
>McDonald's
>Fashion brands
>knowledge
>>25171563
The one you called pinecone is probably supposed to be a Douglas Fir considering the bracts on the cone scales.
>>25170014
>the brand apple is literally shaped like a fucking apple
>2 others are shaped like the first letter
step it the fuck up autists
>>25171723
When did I say brands were knowledge
Dumb
Fuck
>>25170014
I only know the maple leaf and pine....
>>25171934
That's better than most people and the maple syrup is edible too!
>>25171934
There isn't pine foliage in the pic.
>you had a chance for a thought provoking thread, but since it's r9k, you only get bullied instead
>read replies, the only way they bypassed the filter is because they contain one uncommon word like "luddite" or "acorn"
r9k is the garbage dump of 4chan, worse than /b/
That's because it's far from "civilized", it's merely technologically advanced.
Everything else is shit, every other aspect of the western civilization is an inexcusable horrific mess.
>>25171940
you're supposed to tell me the answers
>>25171707
Chartered flights to the border between the atmosphere and space isn't shit and some rich fucks pet project of building a martian colony is jack fucking shit compared to what NASA accomplished over 50 years ago.
Capitalism isn't doing shit.
>>25169863
>hueh why do people know more about consumer goods than about scavenging in a technologically advanced first world society where nobody has to worry about scrounging up their next meal out of the woods
You fucking idiot.
>>25171563
It's Lacoste, not Gatorgolf you fucking idiot.
>>25172056
Do you even understand what it means to be civilized? It means we don't need to know what leaves are poisonous and what leaves aren't because we live in a society that's advanced enough that we don't have to scavenge anymore. If that seriously upsets you - the fact that you don't have to kill and scavenge to get your tendie din din anymore - go fucking live in the Congo or something.
It's interesting how upsetting a picture of leaves is to some people.
>>25172247
Being civilized is more than just having more convenient means of survival, it's also about culture.
But you don't seem to understand that cause you're a drone.
You should go to Congo and take all the Leopolds of the western world with you, maybe then we'll stand a chance to become actually civilized.
god you people just eat up everything on TV, reality be damned, right?
Fucking programmable humans. They fill you people up and you go off squawking like parrots.
>>25172277
Yeah, right, I'm a drone. I've probably read more books this past month than you have since high school. If you're so concerned about intricate knowledge of plants, I think YOU would enjoy life in Africa. You seem so fucking convinced that life would somehow become better if we threw out everything that made us a society without food scarcity and went back to living in the state of nature.
>>25172475
you're making a ton of assumptions there and none of them are true
... it's far more useful to know brands than plants these days.
Why do you need to make yourself feel elite over everyone else when you waste your life in this shit hole?
No one here is better than normies, otherwise we wouldn't be here.
>>25172509
Normies aren't better than anyone else
Would you really want to be a normie?
>>25170014
That's kind of an unfair picture really, those are all well known brands except for the crocodile brand, whereas only two or 3 of the leaves are kind of recognizable. I know probably a good 3 or 4 times as many plants as brands, and I imagine most people at least know as many plants as brands. Afterall nike is just nike but I can walk down the driveway and point out 4 different species of pine and 3 different oaks ezpz. Then you have the crazy ornamental shit. I can understand people not knowing all the common native shit but everyone knows the cum stink biloba tree, cum stink pear tree, japanese maple, silver maple, brugmansia, pretty pink princess poof tree. And of course the more interesting natives like sassafrass, crabapple, pecan, and magnolia.
>>25169863
i just read brave new world and i feel u dog
> tfw bernard marx
>>25172538
>the cum stink biloba tree, cum stink pear tree
In high school there were trees that smelled like rotten vagina during spring/summer. To this day I do not understand why the fuck the school didn't cut those shits down
>defending industrial society
As is to be expected of bluepilled beta males.
ITT: agents of The Matrix
>>25170014
Seeing as how we no longer live in the forest or in farm communities, obviously we recognize more brand logos than plants.
Leaves don't have good marketing departments.
