Depends where you live, I was in east halls as a freshman and the dorms were crowded and everyone knew their floormates. Now I live in west and it's a lot more quiet. Depends where you live.

Pretty big campus/ lots of people everywhere. There are some nice, less crowded routes around though, plus buses. Most of the year is either mild or cold. Football games are very popular

It's really not that difficult to get in. It's one of those universities where half of the applicants get in, but for the hard majors, 85% of them are weeded out anyway.

My roommate was assigned to me and was a poser. He was clearly a nerd in high school and was trying to re-invent himself as a bro with a fucking hemp necklace. He had done Summer semester but never invited me to anything.
I made my own friends, with hotter girls around, and he clearly wanted to hang out. I didn't invite him. He started smoking weed, and I came home from a night of fun to him getting busted smoking weed by cops and the RA. Then he became an emo kid and it was just blehhh
You should call your roomie. He might just be shy. Meeting people takes a few weeks and if he's cool he WILL invite you to meet people he knows. And you can do the same

I partied the entire time. I skipped most of my classes and graduated with a 2.49 GPA in Economics. I had a drinking problem for three years after graduating.
It wasn't all fun, but I... drank, smoked weed, did coke, mushrooms, salvia, whippets (available at Dragon Chaser's Emporium), and a bunch of stupid shit.
There is a store on campus called "Nittany Notes" that sells notes for most of the big lecture classes of 100+ students. If you know the quiz/test schedule and you are a self-teacher you can skip every class for $35/semester (2007 prices) and pick up the notes on a weekly basis.

If you schedule a class for before 9AM it will frequently be empty if there is no attendance requirement. Nobody goes to them. You might be hung over some days. That all depends on you, but I did better with blocks of classes, maybe 2 in a row, with a 30 minute break. Depends on where oyu live and the distance between classrooms. Some are literally a 25 minute trek in the snow. Look up the scheduled rooms before you book if you have the time!
I would avoid having just 1 class on a Thursday or Friday. I almost never went to them if there wasn't at least 2 classes pulling me out of bed
