Jesus fuck. Needed a slightly higher GPA and should've realized holidays don't actually exist in university if you want to land a career afterwards in this market. Not saying everybody, even if they tried their hardest, can land the career they want, but those who don't actually work towards it outside of the campus are defective and doomed.

You can't find a job flipping burgers because you have a degree. You should leave your degree out of your resume.

The only reason I got a job was because of my family.

I'm doing CS but get all C's in every subject.
During the breaks i either work (unrelated to CS though) or travel (also unrelated to CS).
I don't have friends or social skills. I probably wouldn't get through a job interview, and actually the reason i'm going to college is that i know i would fail at life and college was like a security net for me.
In one class i worked on a project with the guy who is the top of my class. If he was my friend, i would consider him to be a good connection for the future, because im sure he's going to succeed in life and could help me out with getting a job, but of course i fucked it up being the autist i am, and so i still don't have any friends

>>
>>25157291
Take your degree off your resume. What casual work place would hire a fucking biologist, they all think you just need a quick 2 week of work to stay afloat before starting your new job as a biologist.

Imagine you are this highschool dropout who's been working at a mcdonalds for 6 years and are now in charge of hiring. There is this fancy college fag who comes in and hand over his resume with his biology degree. You just know he's smarter than you. What do you do? Do you hire him?

Instead of saying you went to college, try to find out if any place that had many employees and low retention closed down recently in the area, like a Wal-Mart or something, and say you worked there a few months. It doesn't have to be closed, but if its closed they won't be able to check references (they rarely do in unskilled workplaces, nobody has time for that shit, nor does anyone cares). Even if its still open, their phone call to that place is likely to be answered by someone who doesn't give a shit and has every good reason to not know who you are. And if they find out about your lie, then you don't get the job, that's it. Try next door.

IT work for the University, studied abroad in Taipei for Mandarin, no internships for English majors

I just suck dick, and when I apply myself all I end up is sucking more dick.

I can read Japanese well enough to read Hentai, and I have been stuck at that level for years, and can barely speak it. Self-taught, but only enough for self-pleasure.

My Mandarin is OK, but there are no jobs which require or even ask for Mandarin in the low-skills category I inhabit.

I write programs in Python and sometimes Java, but anything beyond basic scripting is a slow learning curve. It took me 3 tries to correctly write a Fizzbuzz during interviews, and only after I memorized the implementation line-for-line.

$8.25/hr for the forseeable future, at this rate

I am doing CS, and after my degree i want to go to the USA to live with my e-gf.
Let's pretend this isn't a terrible life decision, but i'll still have one issue.
If i don't immediately get an IT related job, i might instead have to temporarily get one of those jobs like at mcdonalds or taco bell, etc.
But i can't exactly say "I've been working at Walmart for a few months" when i obviously just came to the US, and they're going to assume i must be educated or rich or something. I mean I guess i could always claim i'm one of those immigrants that come to America to live the American Dream, just to end up working minimum wage. But i'm a scrawny nerd so i dont really give off that vibe

I know a lot of people who are much more talented than me but not nearly as successful because they don't put anything out and they only work on things part time. I'm actually not very good. I struggle with proportion and for a long time lazily bypassed that by going for abstraction or stylized primitivism.

Having a bold aesthetic is more important than being technically good and anyone can develop a singular aesthetic if you put the time in. And frankly anyone can develop impressive technical skill if they put the time in; I hit a wall with technique because I am lazy and impatient and IMO it's better to sell a failure than sit at home trying to make something perfect. So I make failures then hustle the shit out of them.

I'm not very good at drawing or painting and for the installation shit, I've only learned how to edit and composite video in the last year or so. But all I do like 10 hours a day is work on art and try to hustle. And no, you don't need to put in 10 hours a day, you could work at shit evenings and weekends and still be miles ahead of most people who spend their evenings and weekends watching netflix.

hustle > talent

All my life, wanted nothing more than to teach. Used to teach shit at every opportunity, also did tutoring and summer programs. Told over and over stuff like, "I never really got this until you showed me," etc.

Get to college, sit down with guidance counselor, tell her I want to teach. She's like, that's not a good job for someone like you, tries to push me into something else.

Take a couple of education classes. Only guy in them. Instructors keep saying stuff like "it's surprising to see 'someone like you' in my class".

Do solid work, get points knocked off over strange technicalities that don't seem to apply to other students. After multiple brush-offs, professors finally say variations on, "Well, 'someone like you' probably belongs in a different program."

Was starting to pick classes for my Junior year when I finally realized 'someone like you' was code for 'male'. Confronted my advisor about this the next time I heard it. "You mean, because I'm a guy, I can't teach?"

"Oh, no, I'm sure you can teach. It's just whether or you should. Male teachers have a bad reputation for, you know...behavioral improprieties. It's just a matter of time before someone says something, or a parent makes a complaint. No one wants that."

Finally admit defeat and switch to finance. I hate it, but at least I can get a job.

I had a good GPA in high school, but don't think I have the motivation to get me through college. What's the best trade to learn if I live in California?
>>
After I graduated from university, I headed back to live with my parents, thinking my job search would be over in a few weeks, at most. "They'll call me, obviously - I have great grades, and internships," I thought to myself.

I applied to where I most wanted. I'd studied to be a bureaucrat, with some business thrown into the mix.

Eventually, the weeks turned into a month, and the month into months. No place called me: I began to apply in things outside my field. I began applying for menial shit, and even so, I couldn't get hired. Eight months after it had all begun, I got a job. Not because of my skills: no, not at all. I got one because my father had talked to a friend of his. But the job itself? Menial shit, paying $9.30 an hour. Doing dead-end tasks: archiving files, transcribing data onto a spreadsheet.

I've been at that job for four months now. Every day, I keep applying for jobs in what I want. But I get rejected from everything. The way things are going, I'm never going to be independent. I still live with my parents, and I want to move out every single day. But the wage I earn is too little.

I really hate my life.

I started out as a lowly computer handyman for someone's garage business. Of course the actual title was some grandiose bullshit, but that's all my actual job boiled down to, completing random tasks related to fixing computers and websites. I started at a measly $12/hour. The shuttle drivers made more than me.

My boss from that job referred me to someone he knew who needed a programmer and now I get paid around $50/hour. I'm probably the highest paid person in my major holding a conventional job.

completely legit. Even if you've done everything to please your corporate overlords by working unpaid internships, networking, getting a high GPA, majoring in something useful, getting a graduate degree, kissing your incompetent manager's arse at every opportunity, you will still have to go around begging for work. You will still need to sit through a dozen interviews to get a job, and the hiring directors will still nitpick your resume for not having X, Y, and Z qualifications.

Getting on NEETbux and being a drain on the system seems like the only rational decision for a robot. If you don't have a family to provide for there's literally zero reason to get into the rat race.
