There's a lot of serious anime that has great story-telling and excuse my pleb taste, but berserk, ergo proxy, steins;gate, especially monster, cowboy bebop, Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain are all great dramas.

I don't have the attention span to sit down and watch cartoons. I wish I could but I get distracted and can never sit through and entire episode. If I do manage to sit myself down and watch anime I have to stop every 10 seconds to translate text on screen because I can just basically read and understand nipponese. monogatari is psychological torture for me with the freezeframes.

I used to think I was an anime fan. Then I found out I was a hentai/ecchi fan. I'm more at peace with myself now.

i like anime but hate a lot of tropes inherent in it. but i also don't like anime more than other forms of storytelling or whatever. like i don't consider myself an anime fan in particular, though i do watch it sometimes.
