I don't drive because I live in the city. I considered getting a license just so I could get a van and live in it on the cheap but quickly realized that that is dumb as fuck and got an apartment insteadI probably would have kept with that plan had I not found a place for as cheap as I did before joining the militarymy life is a series of stop-gap solutions, it's like one of those popsicle stick bridges engineering students build for competitions that end up being more glue than wood

The engine is Subaru through and through as well, although without the turbo that's such a signature of Subaru boxers. I had a Bugeye WRX back in the day and loved it, aside from the shit that kept breaking on it, mostly axles and wheel bearings.
Anyway, I considered an FR-S, but for the same money and similar performance, I decided to go with the more practical alternative.

And, much of why I was willing to sacrifice RWD for my daily driver is because I also have this to drive when I want to get my oversteer kicks.
It's technically my dad's, he bought it brand new, but I have a set of keys and free reign to do whatever I want with it when he's not driving it, which is pretty much always now that he's almost 70 and not in the greatest shape.

It's hard for them to sell enough of a niche car like that to make a profit, so they have to team up to spread costs. They do it much less with mainstream models, although Scion bizarrely just released a facelifted Mazda2 in the US.
And yeah, I'm aware that the 86 trio all have the same engine, and are in generally mechanically identical. (Just differences in bumpers, badging, and spring rates, right?) I've worked on a few of them and driven a couple on the track, including one I installed Motion Control Suspension race coilovers on at my old job, that was pretty fun at Streets of Willow Springs.
