I traveled with a lady trucker for awhile, she said it could be a pretty tough and lonely life, definitely boring.
That was a few years ago, now there's a coming, real risk of automated cars taking the job.

No actually I work out a lot. Even when I am on the internet I am standing or lying down in bed.
I thought about it, but deep vein thrombosis and a job that will be obsolete when self driving cars catch on doesn't really appeal to me.

It's definitely not a life I would live, my dad's been a driver his whole life, works 70 hour weeks every week of his life, that's 14 hours a day where he gets up around 4 am most days. Albeit he makes a good sum around 130k/yr but the entire lifestyle is physically draining and you'll probably end up an alcoholic like him

i appreciate the input. i've only met a couple of truckers and don't really know what the whole thing's about.
that said... i think yall are just soft. i fucking love driving for long periods. i would just listen to opie and anthony on satellite radio. and the sitting argument makes no sense - i worked for a year at a desk job. sat on my fucking ass for 8 hours a day. worse than that, stared at a computer screen too. no way that driving around is worse than that. maybe equally bad. but not worse.
