It's not about them being a "poor man's" anything; they made a number of songs that I love and were the catalyst for me coming to finally engage and appreciate post-rock sounds, giving them sentimental value. GIAA did not do any of those things for me, admittedly in large part because I do not give a fuck about vocals and more often than not find them to be more detrimental than beneficial to the overall production.
