A low-strength open-handed slap is enough to shock the fuck out of them and diffuse all tension. A woman can be in a murderous rampage actively trying to cut your throat with a kitchen knife, and a measured slap in the face will reduce her to a sobbing heap on the floor.
By measured slap I mean a slap form the elbow, with no shoulder behind it. Like you could spank a girl's ass harder that that and she'd like it.
