Alright robots, what do you ask for and does it suit you? I'm sick and tired of shitty haircuts because I don't know what to ask for

This. I shave my head every month or so. Saves money, time and effort.
Short back and sides, because it's the only one I know. It doesn't suit me, but then again nothing does.

Ask for an undercut or find a hairdresser with good taste.
My guy cuts hair for real cheap, I just go and ask him to cut the sides short and the keep the top a bit longer, or just give me something real trendy and he makes me look great.

what the hell kind of haircut can i even get for a receded M type of hairline
I do short on the sides, longer on top. Not long like OP's pic though because I have pretty strong thick hair. Not nigger tier in the sense it curls as soon as it sprouts but pretty hard to manage nonetheless.
I'll probably just shave it all in the future once I remove a couple cysts in my head
