I stopped caring. There was a point where I was making as much money as my father in my junior year of college. Lived in a huge apartment (with roommates though). Was doing a ton of extracurricular stuff to help with my career field and build my resume. Had good greats. Not great, but good. Lots of money. Dressed nice every day. Started dating. Went to the gym weekly.
Parents didn't give a fuck and were still disappointed in me. At that point I gave up on caring what they thought about me. My attitude was basically "You need to get some real expectations, because life doesn't work out like your fantasies."

My points more or less became the disappointed Asian father stereotype. You got an A? Why not an A+? Why aren't you taking that elective this semester, instead of this one? Shit like that. The dealbreaker was when I finally told my parents how much money I was making, and they wanted to nag about how that wasn't good enough. I know it's petty to be so concerned about money but that little thing really rubbed me the wrong way and I never changed my attitude after that. I hate to be an ass to the people that raised me but yeah. We don't talk anymore, haven't for a few years.
