Faerie fire looks kind of underrated like mango for less mana-gated heroes. If you're heavily harassing, 2 dmg adds up and when they finally engage for real, you heal for 75 or 150 in a burst and kill them.

When someone picks a core offlane in my scrub pubs, I usually pick Visage and go with them. I've actually started buying faerie fires off the start because that burst heal can really save his life since he's a squishball early game and the insane attack speed from grave chill plus the 4 bonus damage lets me push anybody completely out of lane
