The movies aren't that great aside from Empire. Overrated. I just really liked the expanded universe stuff they put out in the 90s. Got some very talented scifi authors and comic book writers that did that stuff.

2 was good. It really polished the combat mechanics and graphics, and had top quality prerendered cutscenes. It just didn't have a substantial campaign or decent enemy variety.

Watch 4-5-6 in any order i grew up watching those in the 90's till the prequels came out, then try watching it all in order 1-2-3-4-5-6. 1 is the worse but it gets better after that. 2 isn't that great but christopher lee is awesome although it's kind of sad an actor of his caliber isn't allowed kill or win a fight with a muppet like yoda. i think once it gets to 3 it really picks up a lot for the prequels. honestly you sort of have to watch the OT first because the storm troopers go from wielding british sten guns as props to futuristic laser rifles in the original and tech just gets worse once you like the series first you try to rationalize away with story reasons why it would regress, plus seeing luke actually start to turn into a jedi from a practically helpless kid is pretty good and some of the comical force jumps in the prequals around lava jumps in the droid factory seem less goofy. don't be surprised if you end up rooting for the sith since they really are not that bad and balance would of been brought to the force if luke joined vadar the rebels would of followed him and merged with the empire and they would of all been at peace with luke balancing vaders viciousness vader wasn't evil he just became a callous bastard. the expanded universe is really good though try playing Knights of the Old Republic and you'll want to watch or read whatever star wars stuff you can find, fun game and really drags you into the star wars universe putting you in the center of it.

It's just a sword and sorcery adventure in space. It's not worth forming a cult over, but it is good fun. Classic character archetypes, heroes facing off against Nazi villains and a simple good vs evil story. I love to rewatch the original trilogy when I'm sick.
