I realized how bullshit that was shortly after I turned 18 and gained some responsibly.
Adults only act mature when they absolutely have to which isn't very often and sometimes never.
There are different kinds of maturity as well.

Emotional maturity is one of them. You don't let anger or despair overcome you and affect your actions.
I'm not very emotionally mature but there's never any reason for me to be.
