Did this all my adolescence then suddenly stopped forever. There's just no explanation I was biting my finger like usual and just stopped at the moment. Never did it again, it's been 3 years now.

I start biting my nails when I experience negative emotions. This ranges from stress, anxiety, anger, anticipation, and suspense.
I like biting the skin around my nails, chewing, then eating it. I run my tongue along my nail to make sure it feels even, if not I chew them off.
My biting is very precise, I can pluck hairs off of people with my teeth.
I hate when I chew my nails too far and it becomes painful and sensitive. I try to be conscious about it now.
My mom has worse nails than I do, they're halfway down the nailbed.

Well yeah you know. They just kinda break at some point and they usually fall off (I don't notice them disappearing until I look at my hands). Whenever I do spot that a nail is broken I just bite it off and throw it away. I don't know where all the other ones go though.

I do this quite often and I know i shouldn't. I do lots of woodworking so i build up callus and then destroy them and splinters hurt like a bitch, especially when your trying to jack it.

i don't notice if there's good effects, but they definitely aren't bad. well, if you chew your nails down too much, you can risk having them catch the nail bed underneath, but otherwise it feels nice
also, i'll lay nails of the same finger on top of each other and push them into one another to push the skin covering my nails, farther back.
was funny growing up and being told "stop chewing your nails" when I was actually going to town on the skin around them
Buy a cuticle trimmer.
You'll at least be able to trim down the savaged skin neatly.
