Ahh that's right... I recall some game with that name, or something similiar, but I don't think they're related at all. I'm only halfway through, and it's a bit hard to put in words what it's about but it's comedy, and the main plot seems to be about this ideologic organization plotting to take over earth, which basically consists of Lord Illpalazzo and his super energic henchman Excel and some other girl I forgot the name of who's extremely sickly and constantly on the verge of dying, actually they all die a lot but there's this multiverse thing that keeps correcting their errors, and there's a lot of animation staff stuff involved, just like the kind you see in Gintama some times, so at times you have one foot by the drawing boards and another in the story. It really needs to be experienced tho.

Rage of Bahamut Genesis is a pretty good action adventure if you can get passed the MC's personality.
I would also recommend blade of the immortal, but be warned that the anime is just meant to get people to read the manga and does not actually have a proper conclusion.
If you liked trigun then you would probably like Gun X Sword.
Basilisk and Ninja Scroll are also great.

I really enjoyed this one but when i got to the second season I could tell from watching half of the first episode it wasn't going to be the same. Hikki seemed less robot and the episode didn't have that disparaging feel to it. Am I over reacting or is season 2 good?

There's only one season so far, and its ending was pretty unsatisfying though.
It's only a matter of time before you adventure into the world of VNs, though. There's a whole treasure chest of slice of life/ cool shit waiting for you on the other side.
