A little. Usually, when a serial killer gets caught it makes big news, although nowhere near the level mass shootings get nowadays. There are tons of serial killers caught every year that you have probably never heard of.
I remember a case from last year, this guy tried to strangle some hooker and she managed to shoot him dead with his gun. The cops found a kill kit in the back of his minivan, which he was apparently driving across the country.
