Remember when /b/ was the cultural epicenter of 4chan?

Remember when you could actually put sage in all fields?

Remember how difficult it was to browse if you didn't know about noko?

Remember when there were tripfags who were notorious across the entire site?

Remember when it was ebaumsworld and somethingawful instead of reddit and tumblr?

Remember when board rivalries were more than just posters being told to fuck off back to >>>/pol/?

Remember when rage comics and demotivationals were 'our' thing?

Remember when goredumps were a daily occurrence?

Remember those spammers who recruited unwitting idiots to botnets?

Remember when moot was just another one of us?

Remember when 4chan felt like the wild west?

I miss those times.
>>
I remember. You just made me super nostalgic. The internet got so normalized.
>>
>>25025287
>Remember when there were tripfags who were notorious across the entire site?
Like who?
>>
go back 2 gaia OP
>>
>>25025287
This is a MAJOR point for me: Remember when normalfags didn't know what a "meme" was? Nowadays they still don't really know, they just call image macroson facebook "memes".

Which brings me to another point; remember when they were called image macros?
>>
>>25025319
Zezima, senpai.
>>
Yeah but I was so young, too. I'd probably find today's /b/ just as fun as it was back then if I was 14 right now. It was pretty cash, though. Being part of an obscure internet comunity and all.
>>
>>25025287
Remember when we were legion?
>>
I remember when there'd be near daily ass threads on /v/. Nowadays, anything nsfw on a blue board gets deleted, as if 4chan could ever be considered worksafe, and even on-topic threads get deleted if the mods don't like it.

This place sure took a nosedive in recent years but there isn't much of an alternative.

I remember, OP.

I actually considered all this stuff to be very important historically and devoted a lot of resources towards making an archive of the times (having started browsing in 2008).

Then in 2012 the hard drive with my data on it died. I've only managed to salvage a few relics since then, as well as things I can scrounge up from threads like this.

I'll add to the list, too:
Remember 7chan?
Remember when this was an anime site and not an edgy-teenager site?
Remember LURK MOAR?
Remember the time before dubs?
>>
You realize it's your faults, right?
4chan got so normalized because it kept popping up on the news or social media leading to some kid saying "hey I'll check that place out" then reporting back to tumblr/reddit/normiebook about how cool it was, leading to more newfaggy idiots joining in.
Now going on 4chan is like being a nerd, something that used to be bad but is now looked at as "cool" or "hip"
>>
>>25025632
>"hip"
Nobody says 'hip' to mean anything besides the outside of your waist, unless you mean in the word "hipster". Stop talking like an old man to try to sound more legitimate.
>>
>>25025303
Kill yourself normie.

I miss the atmosphere of the old Internet.
I miss when memes were few and far in between, weren't spammed all the time and were completely unknown to the masses.
I miss when social networking was next to nonexistent and the only way you could access the Internet was with an actual computer.
I miss when people created online content purely out of interest, not out of profit.
I miss when the online world didn't bleed into the real world and didn't warp people's behavior.
I miss when I was still somewhat optimistic and had hope for the future.

It wouldn't make me so sad if there were a spiritual successor where the essence of the old 4chan lived on, but there isn't. At least not that I'm aware of. >mfw I was born too late to experience this
I can only imagine the magical place the internet was before the normies
>>
>>25028348
Ah, the days when raids were for the lulz and not just faggots trying to be edgy

>>25028939
It was a glorious place. It was a cesspool, but it was our cesspool

I remember she took my breath away. She seemed to be a pure idealization of unconditional, indiscriminatory love.

Remember lolz? I'm disappointed that my autocorrect had that word without me needing to teach it that.
>>
this makes me cry

I don't miss any of them but it does feel really bizzare that these guys are just gone now or are just posting without the tripcodes.
>>
Anyone remember that trip fag named aeris, from /b/?
>>
Why did Moot leave? He finally got what he wanted right? Young teens using his site.
>>
>tfw /v/ used to be dank and hilarious but now it's just redditcore
Remember ToadytheBRo? That shit was hilarious.

>I miss the atmosphere of the old Internet.
>I miss when social networking was next to nonexistent and the only way you could access the Internet was with an actual computer.
I pretty much believe that it was stuff like Myspace, facebook, bebo etc that turned the internet into what it is now, social sites bought a lot of people in.

I remember when the internet as a whole felt like this underground place.

I remember thinking it was full of porn when I first started using it but holy shit had it gotten bad over the years. You'll never see a combo thread, or EFG, or pinwheels, or trolldad/physics comics anymore. It's literally 99 porn threads and 2 YLYL threads ruined by banana man. I'd go fix it up if I had any of my old /b/ files.
>>
Been here every day since 2007. I'm almost at a decade. Where the fuck did the time go. In my mind 2007 feels like 4 years ago, not 9. The 2010s are half over now. Fuck. I've done nothing for the past 4 years. This is what getting old feels like.

I want comfy small community internet back again.
>>
Old mods got fired, everyone who complained got banned a while after chanology

Ever noticed that you cant apply to be a janitor for /b/?

You do know there's like a 10 hour goodbye video moot did, right? It's on the 4chan Youtube channel.
>>
>>25029327
He's resting in heaven now, listening to his long lost iPod
>>
Is it even possible to make /b/ good again? Is good in the eyes of all the people who use it now?
>>
>>25029359
i still get excited and shit when i see this
i could go from 26 year old to 14 year old /b/tard in a split second holy fuck
>>
>>25029617
The sense of community is long gone in /b/ and its reputations so bad that no one will respect it again
People outside of 4chan used to fear /b/, calling it the worst place on the Internet, now it really is the worst place just got different reasons

who was autistic enough to create this? /v/ beats r9k when it comes to autism.
>>
Anyone remember AMDG from early r9k?

He'd always pop up during any religious debate with long thought-out posts accompanied with some crusader image?
>>
>>25029046
This is why I think we should start a new community on freenet or something. The internet was fun before normies discovered it. We need a new technically-difficult-to-access community.
>>
I miss athens before he sold out for some pussy
I bet he likes jews now too.
