The original Everquest was another gold standard of autism. People shit on vanilla WoW but it did a lot to make MMOs less of an embarrassment. Like you should still feel bad if you lost your life to WoW but if you just played a few hours here and there and raided with some people you knew IRL it was actually somewhat socially acceptable.
