I agree with all of your first paragraph, and in your second you basically echo my own ideas of the difference between a crush and real love, the crush being 'short term infatuation'. If there were prolonged, genuine, romantic feelings for others outside of the relationship, then I also agree that that would definitely be grounds for taking a look at the relationship and deciding if it isn't best to just let it go.
And your viewpoint really isn't so different to the general consensus at all man, don't feel like you're some puritan freak just because the vocal minority are screaming the importance of polyamory and cheating. In retrospect, I wish I would have called them out on their shit, but I was so afraid of being found out I didn't want to risk it (even though they'd probably never expect it anyway).
I get confused for gay a lot because of my mannerisms, and I sometimes wish I was gay because then I'd make sense to people. Because when I tell them I'm straight, some people don't believe me! They think I'm in the closet, which I suppose I am, but it's not because I like sucking dick, it's that I wish I had a vagina to rub on people. I got in a two-year-long argument with a "friend" about it (not really a friend, we just both went to the same tiny-ass college so you can't help but interact with them on a regular basis).
The few people I have tried to come out to don't really get it. I'll say, "I wish I was a woman," and they'll say, "Yeah, yeah, all guys want boobs, but they get in the way hardyharhar blah blah."
I haven't come out to my wife. I gave up coming out right before I met her. She's a little afraid I'm gay, because she picks up on the closet vibe I think, but of course I am 98% into women, which is about as straight as it gets IMHO.

Or maybe you are? I haven't been visiting this site for years, mostly visited between 2008 and 2013. Back in the post 2010 days things like 9gag, memecenter and funnyjunk rised, thus ruining allot of memes by pandering them to the lowest common denominator, facebook groups where thousands of normal people tried to fit in by "getting" the jokes.
So after that lots of memes were associated with reddit and thus frowned upon. That's where I take my conclusion. This whole "cuck" thing is new to me.
