Who /can't hold a conversation/ here?
>>
>>24992983
I just don't have much to say about most of the shit people talk about.
>>
That's me man.
Even with my best friend who I've known since 4th grade I can't. He doesn't mind but still.
I know how. You just pick a topic, talk about it, then let it branch from there.
But I can't. It feels so artificial, forced, and most of all pointless. It means nothing.

I'm with you as well.
A lot of times I just don't know what to say
>talking to someone
>they're being nothing but negative
>I don't know anything about the stupid subject
>just say "that's messed up" in place of say a head nod or "uh huh"
>realize all I've said throughout this entire fucking conversation is "that's messed up"
It even made me uncomfortable, I must've said it like 6 times in the span of ten minutes

WHY IS EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY A SOCIAL BUTTERFLY BUT ME

WHY CAN'T I HAVE FRIENDS TOO

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY
>>
Only with small talk. I hate it and don't understand why normies would rather talk small talk. It's the most repetitive and pointless fucking thing about conversations.

A girl I liked at work has been staying at mine for Netflix and chill and sex but I have literally nothing to say. We smoke weed and watch Netflix but while we just sit there I struggle to hold a conversation. While the sex is good it literally sucks to be able to speak. Fml

Sucks not being able to speak*

I don't understand how to do it. Normies will always talk to me about stuff they did at parties or some incredible experience they had. All I can do is smile and nod. I can't share similar stories or anecdotes. My life is fucking boring. I can't comment on what they're saying without looking like a retard with no social life. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Even if they do end up talking about a topic I'm interested in, I usually care about it WAY more than they do, and they get weirded out by my obsession and I get disappointed by their surface-level interest.

I can if I want to, but I never feel motivated to. I understand that small talk is just a way of humans from different backgrounds having a way of communicating that "we are essentially both the same." Its just I dont have the energy to patiently stand there and come to this conclusion. Its just not rewarding enough to me unless I see something I can gain from that person. I guess Im opportunistic, but aren't we all?

>mfw my roommate is a socialite
>same socialism makes me look like a caveman

You know, that just makes me sad.

Hey, today made a handle for a roofing hatchet, handle is made of white oak, the hatchet was designed to be used for wood shingles, it has a thin blade sort of like a knife, have had this for the longest time, researched it and have found out that it is very old, at least 40 years old, found it at my grandparents when i was 11, it had been there from the previous owners of the house.i used to love chopping stuff with it, broke the orignal handle, tried using branches and sticks but they kept falling out, and then the blade was getting dull. it has been sitting in a tool chest for the last 9 years. the axe part is used to split shingles, it's narrow enough to double as a knife, the notch acts a nail puller, hammer end used to have a checkered face.

you just got to be yourself and talk about what ever, depending on what your interests are.
even if you just sleep all the time, convesate about your nap, go into every little unimportant detail
above is an IM to a LD friend of mine
in a face to face conversation, even if they aren't intrested in your axe, they would ask questions because they are interested in you. the 5W's who where what when why make the base of conversation questions
>who gave you the axe
>where did you, get, find, use, learn
etc
the most important part is to be talking to someone who wants to talk, and if you are the person talking you've got to elaborate

I like to keep my opinions to myself on almost everything so conversations aren't my strong point

I'm ridiculously reserved and need like a year to feel comfortable and open up to people I think are worth it

Also normies like to talk about the stupidest shit

>tfw you can tell good stories but you talk really slow
>>
I talk to people with social anxiety and/or are robots without all the /r9k/. Here's all the shit I hate hearing irl but grin and bear from them anyway

>being very self-deprecating
This turns the conversation towards you arbitrarily if it isn't about you already and makes you look weak.

>apologizing a lot
Same thing.

>Initiating sob stories in a vague manner
Sob stories are okay sometimes, but not in this manner: "Yeah, well have you ever broken your phone case at school?" "At least you didn't have X happen to you.". They usually come in after someone else already told their sob story. It makes you look like you're seeking pity and emotional support but trying to be sort of subtle about introducing it when you're not. Two Matthews I know do this often. They do it for the smallest of bad things that happen to them, sometimes without any provocation to tell me, and it drives me up the wall holding normal conversations with them when they do it.

>mumbling
Work on your inflection so I don't need you to repeat yourself just to interact with you.

>attempts at humour when not really that clever
This usually happens when people deliberate and sweat over what they're gonna say next and their delivery sucks nuts.

>judging others over arbitrary things
This is pretty self-explanatory and another kind of attempt at humour. Usually followed by self-deprecation. I think people get this from the internet.

>memes from anywhere online
This happens more often if I communicate with these people online. Just don't. Have some restraint.

>getting angry over small things
This is generally unattractive in all people, even if your anger is slight, but can happen frequently in robots I know irl

There's probably some more but this is what I could think of off the top of my head
