ITT: Robot-tier albums
Fuck Blox up my asshole
you know its true
The Wall is seriously awful.
The Matrix special edition soundtrack
>>24985805
the wall isn't even close to being robot tier. the closest pink floyd got to being robot tier was with syd barrett, and syd's solo work is more robot tier than any pink floyd releases
the wall is one of the most popular albums of all time, and even inspired a blockbuster movie. that makes the album fairly normie tier, tbqhfam

The movie makes it 10x better. But I never listen to it by itself except for hey you and some other ones when I'm feeling bad

schizophrenic rambling incoherent lyrics doesn't mean he's a robot, he was just crazy

no, but music about isolation, as well as actually isolating yourself from society and getting kicked out of the band you started, definitely leans more towards robot tier than anything waters could write.
hell, the wall was inspired by syd barrett. the parts in the movie and the album that reference isolation from society were all inspired by syd barrett's view on the world, not waters. syd explored these topics in his solo work and it's much better than anything roger waters could compose.
whether or not you want to admit it, pink floyd were normies and syd barrett was the robot. he got kicked out of his band, which crushed his spirit and drove him further into insanity, which lead him to isolate himself completely from society, which lead to pink floyd writing tribute songs about him (wish you were here, shine on, the wall, etc) even though they kicked him out of the band. he even tried to re-connect with the band later on, but they just ignored him. while essentially stealing his ideas and profiting off his despair, of course. syd was a depressed lunatic who finally felt like he belonged somewhere when he was making music, but pink floyd took that away from him because they didn't want to be associated with him, and then waters had the nerve to profit off it. if you really think this makes pink floyd robot tier and syd barrett just insane, you're fucking retarded and probably just a failed chad yourself
All Nick Drake and Daniel Johnston albums
Sufjan Stevens seems kinda robot as well but i havent listened to him all that much
>>24986107
>pink floyd took that away from him because they didn't want to be associated with him,
You can't have a fried out frontman who threatens his girlfriend at knife point and plays only one chord during an entire set to be a frontman of your band.
And the wall was about water's feelings of isolation against his fans thanks to his extreme fame. And also pink Floyd was way better with the introduction of David Gilmore
>dadrock
>le butifel acoustic guitar
>linkin park
I always enter /r9k/ music threads with expectation of finding moving, emotional and EAR-PLEASING music and I always leave them with disappoint.
AND I ALWAYS ENTER THEM AGAIN

If you don't like pink Floyd then you're wrong
>>24986239
but you can be a cokehead who spits on his fans at a live show? also, jim morrison pulled off similar antics that barrett was pulling, yet morrison got away with it. hell, the band ended up releasing his drunken work as a tribute to him after he passed away. why was morrison treated better than barrett? oh, right, because everyone in the band could relate to him and understood the band was his livelihood, and respected him too much to essentially take away the last good thing in his life. pink floyd, on the other hand, didn't actually care about syd barrett, and forced him into isolation for the rest of his life where he died a lonely man, while they continued to profit off his likeness and life story.
also, you're wrong about the wall. the only elements of the wall inspired by waters life was the hatred of school, the relative's war story and pressure from his mother. the drug induced madness and isolation from society were ripped off straight from syd's life
also, gonna need a source about barrett threatening violence. never heard that. i feel like you're just making shit up at this point to insult barrett, which doesn't surprise me because you're sitting here defending the chads from pink floyd who took someone's life away from them and then made money off of it

*Gilmour
Besides rather to determine whether Pink is Roger or Syd, the concept of the album (about isolation its causes and consequences), sums pretty well what a robot is. Especially the second part of the album (from Hey You)

God how I love Weezer

>>24986416
the point is that the concept of the album was clearly lifted from syd's likeness after the band drove him into isolation. the band shouldn't have received credit for work like the wall, especially considering that barrett covered the topic of isolation better on his album madcap laughs. the main difference was madcap laughs didn't have mainstream success while the wall appealed to normies everywhere.

Morrison was a fucking Chad. That's why he can get away with it. The example you're looking for is Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.

(checked)
Take into account the timing of the Wall. It was released after the Floyed achieved success with the normies. Madcap Laughs was sadly an underrated attempt to demonstrate that Syd was the soul of the Floyd. It took for Waters and Gilmour like 5 years to create something at the same level as the Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

MOTHER I CAN FEEL THE SOIL FALLING OVER MY HEEEAAAAD
Only instrumental music is robot-tier. Songs are for normies
>>24988157
Where did you read that Nick was popular in high school? He never had a gf at least, and the one girl that was close to him (according to his family) says that she only saw Nick as a friend.
Also, I never said Pink Floyd are bad, I just said the Wall is bad. I love literally every pre-The Wall album. How is Giles Corey not essential robot-core?
>>24989002
I think it was in that documentary about him. He played football in high school and smoked weed with friends in college.
Also, whoever made Giles Corey (can't remember his name) made up a lot of things about his depression in order to make the album more appealing, same with the one he claims was haunted or whatever.
>>24988711
And as I climb into an empty bed, oh well... Enough said
Most melancholic album that comes to mind

Great choice. Pure sadness and regret in that album.
This right here is some of the most depressing music I've ever heard
first 30 min are- no joke- an exact, EXACT autobiography of me. Everything I feel.

>albums
I never got this meme
Do you actually like all the tracks of an album? I mean most of the time they wary quite heavily and there's like 10+ songs and you like every single one? Personally I never liked more than 2 tracks of a particular album
>>24990155
This fucking shit though, their other albums are similarly depressing, but I still end up listening to them
>>24990556
Listen to the entire album. Generally, less accessible tracks will grow on you. Most albums have a couple of filler tracks at least, but you'll find an album where you like the whole thing sooner or later.
>>24990556
One of the only full albums I can enjoy is Pink Moon because it's short and every song is high quality
Even then I don't listen to it that often, I'm really not a music person
>>24990556
I've gotten to the point I want to listen to full albums not just songs. I hear a certain song from an album by itself and I'm anticipating the song after it and without it I don't feel proper closure.
I just listen to music a lot so it was a natural progression I guess.
>>24990047
Thanks for the recommendation anon, I loved Tomorrow and glad to see there's a new release.

I've found quite a lot that I enjoy at least half the songs. Very few do I like almost all the songs.
>>24990510
Eh, it's like a normie version of being a robot. Gets close though. I really don't think any real robot songs exist.
not sure how this shit hasn't been posted yet
AJJ is as close as it gets to robot music

>drown my country
>and kill everyone but me
>so I can live peacefully
That song is kind of tongue in cheek, but the other ones are very feelsy
At least try it, even if you don't normally like this shit. There's even a reading of one of Albert Fish's letters.
Best song starts at 1:36.
