>Be on the market for a violin
>literally EVERYTHING is marketing.

No matter what corner of the internet I look, there's always someone/something shady going on.

Let's start with YouTube, all the violin people on youtube are pushing a website or have some shit to sell. There is NO ONE on the scene like justinguitar.

Forums and the like are populated with idiots. Having extensive (and expensive) experience with computer audio and all that, I am keenly aware of all the sound BS that goes on between idiots, where absolutely NO claim is backed up by blind tests, except for those claims that illegitimize all the money people spend for their instruments/gear/whatever. Regardless of that, the claims are still ridiculous and seem to be a type of "wives' tale wisdom" rather than anything trustworthy.

So you decide to spend a little less, but then that's where you get the con artists trying to sell you $100 shit for $300. The lengths they go to is just disgusting.

Take pic related for example. It's supposedly an 11 year old girl's review, but read it carefully, and you'll see that it's some 40 year old con artist trying to sweet talk parents. The dead giveaway is the last line "I have gotten tons of comments on it at school." NO KID WOULD EVER SAY THAT. On top of that, NOBODY AT SCHOOL IS GOING TO COMMENT ON YOUR VIOLIN, especially not 11 year old kids. They don't give A FUCK, and I would know, because I was once an 11 year old kid lugging a violin to and from school with other kids who did the same. Not one fucking person ever said a damn thing about anybody's instrument.

That type of comment is something that is designed for parents. A parent hears that, and they go "oh, that's what I want for my kid.". Read the other part too, about the violin's weight. That's another thing specifically designed to attack the parent's worries.

There are other oddities too, like how the "kid" even declares his age in the first place. Please.

Anyway, god damn.

And?

Don't they have actual walk-in stores for instruments? I mean, who buys a fucking half-way decent violin online?

lol
>>
Bro I know this feel except with the PC GPU and CPU crowd. Everyone shills hard for nvidia right? And Intel right? Well these faggots were hyping up the i7 4790k for gaming when fucking facts show the 4690k is the exact same thing.

For gpu, everyone says that hey can do 1080p60 on a fucking 960 or 970 when facts show that they are ducking impossible, they are goddamn liars and j can't stand ktz

>get into producing music
>anytime I'm not behind adblock, every single as is geared towards music
>keyboards and mpcs on porn sites
>production school ads on youtube
Unrelated to OP, but how do i stop the jew robots from mining my data?

You are 100% correct but probably pissing into the wind by posting on 4chan.

Capitalism incentivises this shit and its the best system we have at the moment so you just have to stay smarter than the sheeple who buy into it. Imagine everyone you meet is trying to take your money and you will be a good jew in no time.

Music stores have very limited selections and music store employees are worse than car salesmen.

>not buying a factory refurb gpu for 20% less from gpushack

seriously not attempting to shill but I really like 2-year warranties on computer shit that breaks like a motherfucker
>>
>>24977217
I would NEVER buy a violin online.

Go to music shops and try some out. Get used if you can too, better value 99% of the time.

I mean not only is it an acoustic instrument so there can be a lot of variation in sound but also you have to balance the damn thing under your chin when you play it so you want to make damn sure that you get one that is comfortable for you and well set up.

Disable cookies. If you have a static IP you are still fucked though
>>
>>24977308
Don't go to chain music shops like Kenelley Keys or even the Shar catalog, find an independent shop that deals in used instruments.
>>
>>24977280
Also stop using Facebook every single like plugin on some god dam random site sends Facebook the information that you are doing something on that site even if you are not logged in.
Firefox also has an add-on called donottrackme or so

Don't to to Amazon to buy a violin

I bought an oboe 12 years ago, and I talked to a company that specialized in selling oboes, and told them I was interested in buying an oboe. I knew what model I was interested in and they shipped a few out to me, and I played them for a week and picked out the one that sounded the best.

Those don't exist here.
>>
>>24977275
You can do 1080p60 on a gtx970, its just that the r9 390 is better and costs the same
>>
>>24977217
Why the fuck are you buying a violin? It's not like a guitar or piano. You won't enjoy it. And you're supposed to start off with a used one because those sound better.

If you're buying it for your kid (ree normie) consult his/her tutor.

I'm guessing you're blocking ads but not google analytics and the like.

You saw the newest season of South Park too anon?

I already have a piano and a keyboard, but those are discrete instruments. The violin on the other hand is continuous.

Of course there are many continuous instruments, but I want a violin specifically, because I really like the Sailor Moon OSTs, which feature some lovely sounds made by violins.
>>
>>24978440
Like I said, it's not like the guitar or piano. If you start it at this age, trying to learn off of youtube tutorials, you're going to regret it. Look at other instruments.
>>
>>24977275
>shilling amd this hard.
>>
>>24978045
>you won't enjoy it

Why
>>
>>24978527
Because the initial learning curve for the violin is steep as fuck. It will take you weeks to learn to hold the bow correctly. It will take you months for a bow stroke to not melt your ears. 99% of people learning after the age of 8 won't be able to become any good at it because it's much more difficult to get some of the things into your muscle memory.

I remember when I used to go on PUA forums and read "field reports". This one guy included pictures that were really obviously edited from some POV porn. I stopped going on PUA forums after that.
>>
>>24977262
This desu. I would never buy a non electronic instrument online, especially if it's your first one.
>>24977886
Where do you live? I live in bumfuck nowhere and there are plenty of guitar shops/classical instrument stores.
