Is there any point to being a good person?
>>
If you have latent homosexuality and need to direct it somewhere.

A real man doesn't look up to anyone for acceptance.

He acts in accordance to what he wants.
>>
>>24976599
Yes, nigga, so you can die in peace.
>>
Building up favor to manipulate people
>>
>>24976599
What is a good person?

Good doesn't exist

The only thing that can seperate you from others is your will, and what you achieve with it.
>>
Not being a total dick feels good.
>>
>>24976599
Yes, sociopath boss needs a good honest wagey
>>
>>24976637
>die in peace.
what does that even mean
>>
>>24976658
God, you're a faggot but you're entirely correct.

Op, good/bad, evil etc are subjective things. However, if your someone who consciously chooses to go against what your society deems as "good," eventually they'll get tired of putting up with your shit and you'll be marginalized, if not completely disregarded.

But, if you're incredibly wealthy or powerful or someone of high status, you can be an asshole and not suffer the repercussions most average people would have to face. Donald Trump could literally go on tv right now and say, "All niggers need to be euthanized." and it wouldn't that great of an impact on his life given how ridiculously wealthy and influential he is.

It's best for the common person to be good or at least cooperative to the best of their ability so they can live without hindering their own advancement or happiness.
>>
Point in being a good person? Of course, everybody should be a good person.

Your problem is youve confused 'good person' with 'door matt'. Be a good person, Dont be a door matt

>>
>>24976791
no difference between a good person and a door mat.
Being good is usually about sacrificing your resources (or time) for others.
>>
>>24976650
Wrong. To manipulate people you need to be alpha and intimidating on some level, otherwise being a good person will just make people see you as a door mat and they'll never return those favors when you really need them
>>
Just be a sociopath and don't give a fuck about anyone but yourself, it's the most profitable way.
>>
>>24976920
Manipulation can happen in a number of ways.

Women generally aren't seen as intimidating but they are the most manipulative creatures on the planet, next to babies. And I don't mean that in a derogatory sense.

Manipulation isn't solely limited to being physically intimidating.
>>

I got my parents nearly divorced and talked my way out of dozens of fights with Chads even though I'm a pathetic manlet. Now in the process of taking my uncle's inheritance.

If you think you have to be X to manipulate people you aren't doing it right.
>>
>>24976955
As a sociopath, I feel lucky

But I'm primarily a sociopath because of a head injury sustained in childhood
>>

>>
>>24976599

Ultimately? No. Nobody in today's world matters particularly much. Most of can't name more than a handful of historical emperors and kings, dead celebrities, or world-famous athletes. Names from before the time of Greece and Rome are, for the most part, forgotten. We know Alexander the Great, Jesus, Plato, Socrates, and Caesar, but will the generation of the year 3000 or 4000? Will our species even survive for that long? I suppose we likely will, but none but the most brutal or powerful or saintly among us will have left an impact that is noticeable.

Even then, this entire planet will, at some distant point in time, cease to exist in its entirety. It will be consumed by the sun or disappear as a tiny dot among a million others. And frankly, from the vantage point of the universe, that's all we are - a small, isolated anomaly that can ponder the ramifications of its own trappings but do little to alter them.

Sucks, huh?

Personally, I think that we can find some worth in doing good. Improving the lives of others lets us make an appreciable albeit minuscule difference to those around us. If life is valuable and consciousness is as well on account of its rarity, it seems alright to make an effort to better the circumstances of our fellow, self-aware beings. We might not matter in the slightest, and we may not be remembered for more than a handful of generations, but perhaps we can gather some semblance of purpose from contributing to the joy or happiness or comfort of our fellow humans.

Of course, there's no reason as to why consciousness must be regarded as valuable. On the whole, however, altruism and "goodness" benefits the species and, when practiced collectively, allows us to continue thriving and existing into the future.

>>
>>24977092

I know it's not new or enlightening, bruh. In the same vein, I've been around here long enough to enjoy typing posts for the sake of putting my thoughts into words rather than teaching life lessons to strangers. If you care, you care; if you don't and it's nothing new, then that's fine too.
>>
>>24976713

It's a pretty general trend and an unoriginal statement. A lot of people seem to think they're the only ones who "get it" and that anyone who types out an idea that doesn't relate to frog memes truly thinks they're the first person to have ever thought it.
>>

>>
>>24976943
>>24977028
True. Both in both of these cases the manipulator was valuable. Whether it was pussy or being the kid caught in a divorce these people had some inherent value that they could use to get what they want. Just being nice though and doing favors gets you shit
>>
>>24977266
But he wasn't addressing you, he was addressing Op, unless you are Op.

Why not simply ignore something that's irrelevant to you instead of taking the time to be mean to someone? That information may seem common place to you, but there are others who may not have been exposed to or seriously considered such ideals.
>>
>>24977188
>None of this is new to me, so I'm going to insult him
His post was verbose when all he had to say was "nothing matters, morals are objective, so do what you want." His over explanations were patronizing and edging into euphoric levels.
He deserved to be insulted and shamed.

>>24976599

>>
>>24977392
People lie to strangers all the time. You don't have to have any inherent value to someone in order to manipulate them.

I mean, scam artists and magicians literally make a living off of manipulating others and capitalizing on their naivety. If you have a decent understanding of human psychology, you can manipulate someone.
>>
>>24977405

I'm not the guy who was being a dick. My comment was actually criticizing him. I see those "LOL you think you're the first person to consider this?" posts a lot. I sincerely doubt that most of the people who make those posts think they're stumbling across a revolutionary idea, but instead wanted to take a moment to put their thoughts into order via a more concrete medium.

That's not how things work. You can manipulate them to value you even more but you're not getting anywhere unless you already have some value. Con artists and magicians are charming and entertaining, thats how they draw people in. That's where their value lies. You can't just pick any beta faggot up off the streets and expect him to be able to manipulate people, because he has no skills, no value.

>>
>>24976599
I like to think there is, many people on this board have had the experience of being given unhelpful advice from someone. I mention this because recently i've been trying to be a good person and from what i've experienced it's hard. When someone confides in me and tells me their problems and my only response if fucking memes like 'hang in there' it makes me realise how hard it is to help someone. Knowing the right thing to say how to know what will actually help this person. It makes me think back to the times that people have given me unhelpful advice and it made me feel good because even though the advice was useless the important part was a good person showing they cared about me.

There is no point.
Ultimately, all your actions will be forgotten. You might as well enjoy yourself with the little time you have on this planet.
All your "good" deeds will be obliterated when the sun implodes anyway.
sucks huh?
>>
That depends on what's meant by being a "good" person. Broadly, to prosecuting one's objectives effectively requires assertion. There are cases, however, where it pays to cause individuals to underestimate your capabilities and forge a softened image of yourself.

1. Persist -- people are inclined to take the path of least resistance and dislike social tension and conflict. Behave aggressively if necessary and position people to fold before even making a request.

2. Exhaust people if necessary. This relates to point one.

3. By firm but polite in requests. Escalate if there's resistance. This will reinforce submission/capitulation moving forward. Again, this relates to the first point.

4. Make implied threats. Remind people that something could happen should they choose to go against you, whether in employment or broadly.

5. Focus on costs versus benefits and, to the extent possible, set aside your fear of rejection. For the most part, costs amount to no more than someone saying "no".

6. Leverage employment protections against employers.

7. Don't be afraid to lie. Most bluffs aren't called and many people assume honesty. I don't have a degree but that hasn't prevented me from obtaining jobs for which degrees are necessary.

Disregard the spelling/grammar errors. I just woke up. No, I'm not the first. These are classic tactics. Get into people's heads and try to predict their decision-making process when evaluating how to present or pursue a goal.

The biggest recommendation I have is to lie and lie unabashedly. But keep track of one's lies and rely on lies conservatively.

Helping others helps me deal with feeling like shit. It takes the focus off of me, I get to spend time with people who appreciate my existence, and I feel like I did something worthy of my time.

But most importantly of all, it makes me feel like a "protagonist" rather than a "side character". The protagonist or the hero is always the one who sacrifices for others, while the side-characters are after their own self-interest. I want to be the main character, not some side character.

Let me consult my philosophy manual, Anon, and I'll get right back to you. Perhaps Kant has something to say on the matter.

Check between the chapter of "Basics for Beginners" and "Things That Suck."

The 16 personality types can be deceiving. I don't recommend taking them too seriously.
