Iceland has the population of maybe one U.S. state. Iceland is also relatively isolated, so it's not like black market weapons are pouring into the country left to right, much less would I imagine there being any realistic demand for black weapon trades among Icelanders.
Here in the U.S., we have to deal with drug cartels, gang bangers, radicalized groups and other elements that are going to import firearms whether or not it's legal to do so. Disarming the general population only makes it that much more difficult for us to defend ourselves.

It's difficult to compare the USA with a very homogenous Island where everyone can retrace his ancestry back to Vicky Vickingson. They also have a special culture because of that.
