also, The Idiot and Notes from The Underground by Dostoevsky, of course. Love The Idiot. So good. The protagonist is quite robotic.

Also recommend two more which you're sure to appreciate:

1. The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien - very good book. one of my faves. A one-legged robot is living his life when all of a sudden things get very strange and dreamlike, and he's propelled deeper and deeper into this state until...

and

2. Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins - Great book. This one gives you a really good rising feeling of anything being possible. Great motivational read for khv robots. Very good story writing, the story pulls you in and you simply do not want to put it down until it's done. Very original.

>>
Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabakov is amazing so far, I'm not all the way through it yet but if you like poetry and excellent witty writing then you should read this. I'm gonna be writing a piece on it once I've finished it.

"The Road," by Cormac McCarthy

It's a non-stop clusterfuck of hopelessness and despair, although some idiots actually believe the story has a positive message about love prevailing in even the darkest times. Yeah, no. That was probably the farthest thing from McCarthy's mind, judging by his other works.

Ah, also

3. The Famished Road by Ben Okri. - Longish book, at 600+ big pages in hardcover. Set in Nigeria in the 70s, the book follows the story of a young Abiku, or spirit child, who usually, when born, causes all kinds of bad luck and misfortune to their parents before dying an earlly death. These children are spirits who do not want to be born. This particular spirit child decides to stay, and the book details all of the trouble tht comes with that. He's constantly assailed by his spirit friends, ghosts, hallucinations, trying to convince him to come back.

Good magical realism.
