Is anyone attracted to intelligence?
Seems more likely to be a turn-off to me.
>>
>>24890117
I do want the guy Im dating to be alot more intelligent to me, I also like father figures too.
>>
when a girl says "intelligence" she's really talking about emotional perceptiveness, not logic or problem-solving ability.

Sorry nerd, learn social skills.
>>
To women, yeah probably. On my end though, I'm absolutely attracted to intelligent women. They're just fucking rare.
>>
>"I'm attracted to intelligence"

Emotional intelligence is important, whether or not you object to it being termed a form of intelligence. Empathy and the ability to spot emotional cues improve compatibility between people and reduces hostility or needless personal arguments.

Communication and linguistic intelligence is also important. The strength of the connection between two people is determined by their ability to share thoughts and feelings, as expressed through language and action.

But "book-smart" forms of intelligence aren't particularly relevant in relationships. Nobody cares if you're able to figure out if a given number is a prime number quickly. Nobody cares if you can rehearse a number of facts that can be found on wikipedia. Nobody cares if you scored in the 99th percentile of your SAT, or a 138 IQ on free-iq-test-now.com.exe. Nobody cares if you can rotate complex shapes in your head in order to compare objects that are shown in different orientations.

How could those features further the relationship or make you more pleasant to be around for anyone but autists?
>>
>>24890117
Women only care about intelligence if it leads to $$$$.
>>
>>24890337
>How could those features further the relationship or make you more pleasant to be around for anyone but autists?

Book-smarts is sometimes needed because it's where people dr,aw their conversations from. If they know things they can converse more eloquently about the topics you're talking about and give insightful and meaningful responses.

The way you talk down "book-smarts" makes me think you never went to college and then became mildly successful in some blue collar job
>>
>>24890337
Emotional intelligence doesn't exist.
What people call 'emotional intelligence' is just societal indoctrination of the alpha-beta-omega males.

Basically, high emotional intelligence is being attractive, while low emotional intelligence is being ugly.
Try having 10/10 alpha assert a point to a female and then try having a 2/10 neckbeard do it in the same exact tone with the same word choice and see what happens.
>>
>>24890420
>never went to college
That poor soul!
Not paying 100,000$ for a piece of paper that you'll never actually use in your mid-level retail management position with your masters in engineering, how could he live?!?!
No debt?
An actual employment record?
Actual skills?
That poor, poor soul.
>>
>>24890455
So yes, you're an idiot.

The death of the erudite was a very sad thing for humanity.
>>
I do often wonder why intelligence isn't something which is attractive to females. They evolved to be attracted to strong partners because they were able to protect them and produce offspring who were more likely to survive. Is the same not also true of smart partners?
>>
Define intelligence

Intelligence isn't bookworm smarty pants. Women do love an intelligent man who can get their shit together whether it's financially, mentally, emotionally, or independently. They don't love a dependent man or a dumbass who doesn't know how to get his grind.

*Tips Fedora* folks aren't intelligent
>>
>>24890455
>100,000$ for a piece of paper that you'll never actually use in your mid-level retail management position

True for most cases but people who know what they're doing don't fall into that trap.

In either case, if you've never delved deeply in an academic field, your perception is fundamentally limited. So you'll most likely never in your life see the type of people I'm talking about where intelligence/book-smarts is prerequisite.
>>
>>24890521
You didn't even try to counter my point
What is logical argument
#rekt
>>
>>24890552
You made no points except stating that ignorance truly is bliss.
>>
>>24890549
Intelligence/book smarts is like lifting weights; it just takes time.
I can build a drain field for a 240 acre farm nearly single handle but i can't spell to save my life.
There is only 3 people in my county who can do my job, one is me.
Almost everybody can spell.
>>
>>24890571
Made no points?
My point was that college is a scam and that you'll work in mid-level corporate shit regardless of grades and degree to pay off your debts.

Please google, "average american studen loan debt" then google, "average irrigation specialists paygrade"
>>
>>24890545

I wouldn't think so. If a ripped guy cornered a smart but scrawny guy the scrawny one is done for. Brute force will win in the majority of situations.
>>
>>24890583
You're literally an idiot.

You understand most nations have very few forensic cleaners? Not because it's a hard job, because no one wants to fucking do it.

Great job, you found a niche which no one else wants. You don't have to compete with other business's so chances are you are never going to improve in what you do, you will simply do the same old shit over and over because no one else wants it.

Ignorance truly, TRULY, is bliss.
>>
>>24890609
>being an erudite means going to college.

Oki.
>>
>>24890583
Yeah my point was that he would never know what type of people I'm talking about. In the same way I'll most likely never utilize the same skillset that any blue-collar worker does or be able to understand their technical peers
>>
>>24890583
you're confusing intelligence with knowledge
>>
>>24890117
I am, and found a spouse who is equally intelligent. We don't really crossover in our interests much, though.

We're hopefully going to have smart kids too, assuming they don't receive any mental issues from either side of the family.
>>
intelligence is a turn on, but pretentiousness is a turn off
>>
>>24890117
Gays on average have the highest intelligence, you should go get yourself a boipussy.
>>
>>24890719
>pretentiousness is a turn off

Said the tripfag.

Seriously now?
>>
>>24890719
How do you judge whether a person really knows what they're talking about or not then? Does educational attainment count?
>>
I don't want to date some boring white guy, who never wants to go out and acts like he's too smart to exist but I don't want a retard either
>>
>>24890745
Based on if they're bullshitting you or not. I know this guy that is so insecure that he acts like he's smarter than everyone he's friends with but when I've tried to talk to him about news he doesn't know what he's talking about like I dunno ISIS came from Israel and I had to explain to him what it stood for and the fact Israel is a Jewish country and he's like "Oh, you don't watch the news much do you?" So basically only if they know what they're talking about
>>
>>24890752
just because someone is intelligent, doesnt mean they're boring, arrogant, reclusive, and white.
>>
>>24890869
Was he acting as if he was up-to-date on current events, and that was the thing he was telling people he knew about? Otherwise, I don't think you can say someone is pretentious for not having the same knowledge areas as you.
>>
Don't overthink it, /r9k/.
>>
>>24890869
there's a difference between knowledge and intelligence. you dont have to be knowledgeable about current world events to be smart.
>>
>>24890951
Yeah kind of, I think acting like you're on a high horse about things you know little about is pretentious
>>
>>24890117
I'm sadly average as fuck but from what I see, all the people who are actually smart seem to act kind of stupid and silly while the fags who pretend to be smart act like pedants
>>
if u were intelligent u wouldnt be here dipshit
>>
>>24891093
Right, it's about pretending you know more than you do.

Just not knowing about current events wouldn't make someone pretentious, if what they study is in an entirely different area.
>>
>>24890117
Yeah a lot of girls like smart guys. It's not like enough on its own, but its a big factor for a lot of girls.
>>
>>24890694
>not knowing about regression to the mean

Apparently you're not as smart as you think you are, what a surprise
>>
>>24890420
Nah, I'm a grad student. (And I'm not the other guy -- aside: higher education is not a meme if you choose a major which is both interesting to learn/interesting to practice/and has an available job market)

Perhaps I was too broad in my implied definition of "book smarts". I agree that "abstract intelligence" and creativity can spark conversational/date/other ideas and make interactions more interesting. So let's bar abstract intelligence from what I said.

What I meant by "book smarts" was moreso "mechanical smarts" - purely mechanical problem solving ability that could be solved by way of an unsophisticated computer program.

Perhaps I simply can't see how doing well on Raven's Progressive Matrices manifests itself into a useful interpersonal asset, but let's think of most IQ-tested topics as those which fall into "mechanical smarts".

>>24890430
Emotional intelligence is not ENTIRELY a product of one's attractiveness, bro. A 10/10 autist-sort will still get interest from girls, but his interactions with them will fail, communication will be broken, and true "love" will not form - simply baser physical attraction (lust) will exist.
>>
>>24890420
Book-smarts is sometimes needed because it's where people dr,aw their conversations from. If they know things they can converse more eloquently about the topics you're talking about and give insightful and meaningful responses.

That's bullshit

Intelligence isn't the same as academic achievement. Not even remotely. And social skills aren't about your insightful or meaningful responses. If you have a conversation and you try to impress other people with how insightful or smart you are, you're going to come across as someone who is desperately seeking validation and acceptance, and you're not going to get either of those things.

In the 1870s or so, Gladstone and Disraeli were both in the running to become Prime Minister of the British Empire. Jennie Jerome (Winston Churchill's mother) had dinner with both of them. She said
>When I left the dining room after sitting next to Gladstone, I thought he was the cleverest man in England. But when I sat next to Disraeli I left feeling that I was the cleverest woman.

Social skills really have nothing to do with your intelligence. People aren't interested in you, they're interested in themselves, and the best way to make someone think you're a good conversationalist and make them like you is to let them speak and to give them your interest and attention.

So take your "booksmarts" and go read a book or two about social skills, because you sound like you own a fedora.
>>
>>24890545

Physical strength and power can be perceived at a glance, or at least a close approximation of it. If you're smart you don't get a literal giant head or anything like that, so it's not something you can relate by just having people look at you. Intelligence peacocks to women by ways of wealth and status symbols like fancy cars and fashions, and having a position of authority where people have to kowtow to you are markers of this. If your intelligence doesn't manifest in status or money, then it's irrelevant to the vast majority of women, and is a instant desire killer if she's more successful in any of those pursuits than you are.

>>24890420
>>24891190
>Follow up

Skimmed your point again and it seems like you were referring to "knowledge" instead of "book smarts".

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the bank of information you have in your head (the hard drive storage), I'm talking about your processing capacities (the RAM of your mind) with respect to different types of operations: social, emotional, creative, etc.
>>
>>24891125
Yeah, I'm not trying to say you have to be intelligent or knowledgeable to know a certain thing, but in my experience people that are can step back from just "being right" because we don't know everything and we've all known someone like that
>>
>>24891132
Having a different knowledge area doesn't make me less intelligent. You likely don't know much about what I do, or what my spouse does.

No one seems to agree what "smart" means anyway, so these threads are silly. You can't bring in IQ, you can't bring in education, you can't bring in accomplishments. "Smart" is apparently just some undefinable "I'll know it when I see it".
>>
Yes, women are attracted to intelligence. It is another form of securit. for them and when I say intelligence I don't mean,"Lol god is fuckin stupid check out my fedora, I'm a nice guy not an asshole."

>source I'm an attractive intelligent confident male that gets laid

Cry more neckbeards

Intelligence is neutral, educated is a turn off. If a bitch has schooling past her diploma she is good for nothing beyond a pump and dump. Really all that matters is being as beautiful and young as possible.

It doesn't take much to learn my cock goes in your mouth, pussy, and or ass any time I want, any order I want, any way I want. Cookbooks are intentionally written in such a way women can understand. Most list volume or quantity of ingredients in recipes instead of mass. Laundry is very hard but knowing how to read helps.

If reading is too hard then just wash everything on cold and delicate, tumble dry no heat. Really I think only older women fuck up laundry. Young women understand that clothes cost money and it's an asshole thing to ruin someone's clothes. Recently I was sick and my mom brought soup to my apartment. She noticed my hamper was in the washroom and started a load. I don't know how they did things back in her day but where I come from we separate by color and material, and we try to clean clothes, not destroy them. Most I could use as rags I guess, but I had a nice sweater and pair of sweatpants I had to just throw away. That really pissed me off. I'm not a fucking millionaire. All said and done it was nearly $500 in clothes ruined, and the rest were still wearable but severely damaged. This is sitcom joke level shit. Who the fuck dries fleece or cashmere by putting the dryer on the just fuck my shit up setting? She had to purposely select it because I never use that setting. Fucking bitch. I thought she had finally quit trying to ruin my clothes I moved out. What's sad is my grandmother does the exact same thing, fortunately it was just a pair of $60 sweatpants. She couldn't find my blazer or laptop I guess, because I'm sure she'd have tried washing them in bleach and drying on just fuck my shit up too.
>>
>>24891242
It was a joke you fucking autist, take a chill pill
>>
>>24890420

Why would you want to discuss academic topics with your bang? I have friends for that. The only reason I don't fuck literal retards is because of legal bullshit. Can you lay down and stay still long enough for me to cum? Perfect, we're soulmates then. I'm not even uptight about the being girl part. As long as they aren't fat, old, or horribly diseased I don't care. I just want to cum and any hole is a goal.
