It's not about including substandard students. Supreme Court has ruled that in reviewing students for admissions they are allowed to look at race as one of the factors in their acceptance, but only on an individual level. So that means they aren't allowed to discriminate against other students by purposefully choosing minority students over other students unless it's on an individual level. It's kinda like when you go in for a job interview and once they have narrowed down everyone's applications, and the only two candidates left are you and someone else, employers are going to take into consideration individual factors outside of your qualifications for the job.
This whole idea of taking into account race is due to the 1964 civil rights act and the case Brown v Board of Education that ruled for more diversity and inclusion (like what the video talks about) in schools and other settings where the government has a "vested interest". But, like I said before, schools and the like are only allowed to take race into consideration under strict scrutiny on individual cases.
A lot of the posts here and the comments on the video are just knee jerk reactions from people who, if we're being honest here, are pretty ignorant about affirmative action type programs and the what the inclusion of a more diverse student body is supposedly supposed to bring to a school. The places these people gather their information on these topics comes from click-baity headlines and extreme cases where a crazy student or group of students makes a scene and the video/story goes viral.
They complain about the so-called "regressive left" but look at anything that acknowledges inequality as the typical dumb tumblr feminism activism they're used to seeing pop up on 4chan or whatever.
All of which leads to a bunch of alarmists crying out how we're not only facing the end of civilization as we know it but the end of the world. It's all just dumb slippery slope thinking and witch hunting.
