after 10 years of WoW, i started playing FFXIV.
it dawned on me that these games literally have no point. There were people in my FC that were dumping hours upon hours into getting their Grandmaster of the Hand/Land titles and what not.
Even if I was crippled and/or had some horrible disease where I wouldn't be able to leave my house and had all my expenses paid for, i'd probably kill myself before I finished these hopeless grinds again.
I've been there. I've grinded countless crafting skills, reputations, pvp points, etc... it's all the same. These games LITERALLY turn you into a rat on a spinning wheel.
Please i'm just trying to help you guys, don't fall for these games. There is so much more to life than being a zombified consumer.

I started playing WoW in late 2005 and played summer of 2012 before selling my account, my guy had around 600 DAYS played on him. Since 2012 I've had character on a private WoW server that have included another 175 days played on them. So in near 10 years, a little over 2 years of actual time was spent playing WoW

Beta fucking blew I was so disappointed, it's really badly optimized and translated too
I went between FFXI -> WoW -> FFXIV ->FFXI -> FFXIV -> FFXI now for the finale, it really is a waste of life.
If I could go back in time, I would just do the main story-line and side quests in FFXI/FFXIV, then quit and wait for the next expansion, and for WoW level to the new cap for an expansion and then quit after for the next one.
That's really the only amount of time justifiable by these games. If you're stuck in an MMO right now, take the advice of someone who was always hopelessly addicted for more a decade, (but I know you won't)

Imo, I just really like the character and armor designs in the game compared to a lot of other MMOs that I've played/seen. The world is really beautiful as well which really helps with the immersion factor.

I've been playing FF14 with a couple of friends, just finished A Realm Reborn on Hyperion as a SMN/SCH. I'm bored to fuck of this game. It's gorgeous and I like that Square/Enix makes mobs that look different from the same ol' Tolkien fantasy but goddamn the story is dull.
That said, I tend to solo through SWTOR and go back for content releases on The Secret World- they are the only two that have plots worth following.

It's the best of the old-school-combat MMOs- that is to saw not action combat, like Vindictus, GW2, or Wildstar and it's not reticle-focused like Tera or ESO (I think).
It's based on the FF memes so weeaboos love it and it has brand recognition.
Unless you like hanging out with a bunch of dudes that rp as cat girls you can literally get the same experience with just about any other FF game. Most notably FFXII.

I think the Koreans still like grindage 2 more than B&S its fairly big in >esports though for an mmo. I played the last closed beta until max level but didn't do any max level dungeons. No healers kinda are gonna make pve weird. Some classes have aoe heals though. Maybe you need to coordinate those once the first raid gets released.
Leveling didn't feel that grindy apart from upgrading your weapon (you need dungeon/daily quest materials for that)

Personally i played it since beta but since then the game has showed no improvements, the scarce features they add are pointless and/or horribly designed and theyre out of touch with their own game, ultimately leading me to quit 4 months ago.
I logged in yesterday after reinstalling only to keep my house, do what 3.1 brought apart for thordran cuz i really didnt feel like spending another minute there and uninstalled again.
