I went to Tokyo for two weeks. maybe I got slightly preferential treatment as an obvious tourist (6'5" white male who can't speak/read Japanese), but honestly I didn't get the impression that anyone there was being rude to me at restaurants, in stores, or in parks/trains/streets.
