We should just start saying over and over again that he came back to life. If people are dumb enough to make Trump a front runner for president and believe that The Martian was based on a true story, they'd probably believe that too.
Decent pop musician, not really a lyrical genius. People love him because he had such basic mainstream views that a bunch of dumb boomers at the time really identified with.
Overall nothing of value was really lost
here is a scan of NYC radio that night....this fascinates me because it is from an era where there still was no cable news, so radio was the only way people could experience this stuff together late at night after the networks were off the air.

The guy was a fucking raging dickhead though, beat his ex wife, divorced her when he already had a kid with her because he got yellow fever, he also cheated on yoko ono with another asian. Really a shitty human being for most of his life, he may have gotten nicer towards the end of his life

regardless of your feelings about his art, it's pretty interesting that a pop cultural figure was assassinated, as opposed to some political figure.
nowadays, people like Chapman (and like yourself---not saying you're like Chapman, but you both see him as being phony) could bond and unite and inspire others online.

I guess, as for a pop culture icon being assassinated instead of a politician it wasn't unheard of, especially at this time. Some feminist shot Andy Warhol around the same time.
As for doing it online, I don't know. Like 90% of the time people think they're talking to a like minded individual and plot about something illegal, it's usually a FBI agent.
yoko is a weird one, but this is a pretty amazing album cover choice.
I'm honestly a pretty big Beatles fan and I love his solo work. Plastic Ono Band is a great album full of feels. Even though I never knew him personally, I miss him all the time. I would've loved to hear his newer music. He was always honest, and assuming he continued with that then it probably would've been decent (definitely better than any of Paul's new shit). Also watching current interviews with him and seeing him react to things like the Internet, Nirvana, 9/11, the current music scene, and pop culture in general would've been really interesting me to watch. Also he would've probably done something with Paul and Ringo again and that would've been nice to see. He died at like the worst possible time, he was just starting to get his act together and he was a stay at home dad and was becoming a much better rather for his son Sean than he was with his first son Julian (say what you want but being a Beatle and raising a kid at the same time would've been difficult for anyone). He made a lot of mistakes throughout his life but he was also one of the few people with that level of fame that constantly admitted he was wrong. Everyone gives him shit for the way he treated women, and while he WAS a dick, no one ever gives him credit for being the only Beatle to make numerous attempts to right his wrongs. All of the Beatles hit and cheated on their wives but John was the only one to acknowledge his mistakes publically and genuinely try and better himself as a person. For example, a friend of mine went on a Beatles tour when he visited Liverpool and the tour guide said a dirty little secret around town in the 70's was that Paul's wife would always wear big thick sunglasses because she always had bruises around her eyes. Everyone gives John shit when, in my opinion, he was the most down to earth guy in The Beatles. He was always very open with his imperfections which is something most famous people can't say about themselves. I wish he was still alive
