I rarely go on this board
I've done it a few times.
Once was in another cunt and I'm honestly surprised I didn't get murdered. (Flew to a place I'd never been and met an anon I'd been talking to on tc for a few months for the weekend and crashed at his place) It was amazing and lots of fun.
I've also met some anons at /cgl/ meetups at cons. A lot of times people from other boards use it as a general meeting point and ask if people post in other boards at the meetup. Usually /k/ also has a meetup at some cons.
And then I've met one or two at bars when I was traveling through their town.
But everyone I've met we had /r9k/ in common, it wasn't that we met on the board. It was when tc was still active and I met them in /r9k/ chats on there. I don't think I'd meet an anon purely through the boards without a few months of separate interaction somewhere else.

There's a guy at work who I think posts on 4chan. I one time asked him if he posted on any "forums" and he said no, then asked me if I did right after. I think he was waiting for me to say something like 4chan so that he could be like yeah me too. I'll probably end up asking him if he posts on any "imageboards" the next time. The main reason I think he would post on 4chan is because when we were talking about his college, he said he went to another one because he didn't want to go to college with kids that he hated from his high school. Sounded exactly like me and a lot of people who post on this board.

4chan is definitely a mixed bag. I'd say you really have to get to know them first before meeting up. I'd never ever meet with someone within 3 months of knowing them, even if they were as genuinely good as I am.
