Either you find something you don't mind doing, or you find something where you can earn enough to eventually leave wage-slavery for good.

I work every day at walmart and home depot. full time walmart part time home depot.
60 hours a week
average 6 hours of sleep a day
no time for myself except eating and taking a bath
Get on my level. I am the greatest wageslave than any of you will ever be.
>>
>>24835129
Why do you work this much? Surely you can works less hours if you're single, even at such a low-tier job.

Never understood plebs with shit jobs who work so much. It's a waste of time because the wage is so low you're not really making a worthwhile extra amount of money.

I got a job a few months ago and it fucking sucks. I hate work so much. The hardest part is pretending to be happy and having to smile. I'm not happy. It takes a lot of energy to act like you're chipper when you're not. If I act glum the supervisors complain.

Plus, it's all just so boring. Doing the same thing, every day. When I get home at night, it's hard to enjoy doing anything because I always worry that I'm wasting the time - since I have so little of it before the next day of work.
>>
>>24835129
How much money do you have after rent+food and other necessities? I would kill myself if i had to work that much just to live
>>
>>24835153

There is no way you could support yourself with a walmart wage, even if you're completely single and live in a shitty apartment.
>>

>"I hate my job"
>"but you help people, anon"

I do not give a fuck about anything anymore. Too depressed to sincerely care for my patients. I live a lie everyday I am at work. Only time I enjoy myself is the brief 10 minute window where I come home, put on an album and have a cigarette. After this, the boredom and loneliness sets in. Rinse and repeat. Fake another smile. Every single day.
>>
I work a 60 hour week. I'm a shipbroker.

Pros:
>I like the work and I'm specialist enough that I can work where I want around the world
>it pays very well
>It's a male dominated industry, so no distractions at work and no drama
>Get fuel, travel, dining, dental, health, gym paid for
>Company car
>Like the few people I work with
>Can retire when I'm 40

Cons:
>It's seriously hard
>I have a short amount of free time
>Often depends on chance
>Rarely based in one place for a long time

My job is heaven.

I work at a hotel on the beach in Florida. When it's busy, my work is fun. When it's not busy, my work is sitting in the office on my phone. I'm on a double shift today. 12 hours, $10.50 per hour. Plus tips. It's a bit cool and windy, and the hotel is at 25% occupancy. It's deserted. I'm comfy as fuck right now, just got done getting paid for watching one punch man. Soon I'll take my half hour break and order my daily free meal prepared by the professional chefs who work at the hotel.

My job's not so bad, could be better. Just a security guard for a corporate building. It's incredibly easy, I just sit in front of a computer for about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week browsing the internet, with an hour lunch and an hour of doing "rounds" in the building. Yea, do i wish I had a better paying job, or course I do...but that would require me to go back to school which i do not have the money for.
>>
>>24834954
I work from 9-9 daily, only make 37.5k, my boss calls that "generous" for the amount of hours and work I put in. With taxes, I only take home $1875 a month. On top of this, there are days in which I work an overnight shift, which means I got to wake up at like 1 or 2 AM and work until 5 (when I get up every day).

I get 2 personal days off, two weeks of non-paid vacation and really, really bad health insurance with a $75 co-pay to see any doctor.

I live in central Jersey and work in NYC, so it's like a 2 hour commute both ways daily. I literally don't even eat some days. I just take a protein shake/bar to give me some energy. When I get home, I take NyQuil to sleep.

I'm not mentally challenged enough for neetbux. My friend that is doesn't get enough money to survive, and my parents won't pay for me like his do.
>>
I don't do anything in my free time anyway. When I was a NEET all I did was F5 imageboards. Today that's still all I do on my days off.
>>
>>24835728
This.

You can instantly disprove the wagefriends' lies by asking them one simple question:

"Would you still come to work if you weren't getting paid?"

The only reason people work is because they need money.

My job isn't as bad as a lot of people's (I'm a web developer) but I sure as hell wouldn't be waking up at 7:30 every morning and trudging through rush hour traffic if I weren't getting paid for it.

What's the first thing people do when they win the lottery? That's right: tell their boss to go fuck him/herself.

What does that tell you?

>"Would you still come to work if you weren't getting paid?"

Except we live in a society where pay is integral to survival. Of course we wouldn't do something if we weren't getting paid. Would NEETs be NEETs if they weren't getting bux from somewhere? No, they'd be forced to go out and find a way to survive.

So while someone may actually enjoy what they get paid to do, that doesn't mean that has to be something the person would do as a hobby.

I like having disposable income
>>
I think very few people actually can NEET indefinitely, especially if you're on your own.

So, for some, there's no choice other than working. That being said, I'd feel like a waste if all I did was watch movies all day. You need at least some challenging hobbies.

I think the best that people can do is work for awhile and save / invest nearly everything they can. 5-10 years later, you can become financially independent.

Daily reminder that investor is the best position to be in, better than NEET or wageslave.

What I'm saying is that you work because you HAVE to work in order to fund whatever lifestyle you entertain.

Don't try to kid yourself by saying that you "enjoy" it. That's Stockholm syndrome and you know it.

Like I said, if you won the lottery tomorrow you would quit your job immediately.
>>
>>24838316
No.

If you enjoy something you would definitely do it for free. In fact YOU would PAY for it (i.e. vacations, nice meals, drugs, w/e...)

The fact that people need to be paid to come to work implies that it is drudgery pure and simple.
>>
>>24838339
Are you insane? You seriously think that nobody enjoys their job? That nobody has ever grown up dreaming of doing a certain thing and then doing it?

>If you enjoy something you would definitely do it for free

my work is in web development, which I can find fun at times, so it aint too bad. I have relaxed deadlines and no one watching over me, so I can usually work at my own pace.

I value my job because I've learnt a lot of stuff that I would have never thought to research before, I'm confident I could go freelance after a year of professional work. I want to quit and take a year off backpacking/hitch-hiking with the cash I've saved, but I think I will stay another year because it's a good set-up and I might not be able to come back to it.

The two days of freedom a week thing is annoying though. But it's necessary if you ever want to improve your life (unless you're rich, or a genius).
>>
>>24838339
If I won the lottery tomorrow I would only quit my job to start my own company in the same field, doing the same fucking thing.
>>
>>24838394
Maybe 1% (yes, I'm pulling that figure out of my arse) of the population enjoys their job. People just dislike their jobs to varying degrees.

The real test is: would they still do it if they weren't getting paid.

If you answer yes to that question then you truly enjoy your job. But for the vast majority, the answer is a resounding 'no'.

Firstly, try not to work a job you despise. You dont need to find a job you LOVE (it would be great if you do), you just need to find a job you dont hate

Secondly, if the commute takes more than 40 minutes, you need to re-think if this job is good enough to be worth going to. Also if you are driving there it is easier than bussing

Thirdly, fuck working more than 40 hours a week, fuck working more than 8 hours a day, and fuck working weekends

i work in the service industry, opening a coffee shop at 4.30 am 4x per week, and closing a bbq place 3x per week. Most of my time is free. I play badminton 2-3 times per week, cook, take a low-effort pre-req for grad school, and work out. I live with my mother, who doesn't mind my weed habit as long as i smoke outside.

>Wageslave

I have no bills to pay and put all of my minimum-wage job towards badminton gear, my car, and my savings account. I feel like I have more money than I've ever had before. If you're NEETing it up, you should think about getting a job. If you work like 20-30 hours per week, you're basically still a NEET, you just have to do shift-work as a normie for 2-4 days per week. It's honestly great.

>The trouble with most forms of transport, he thought, is basically one of them not being worth all the bother. On Earth - when there had been an Earth, before it was demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass - the problem had been with cars. The disadvantages involved in pulling lots of black sticky slime from out of the ground where it had been safely hidden out of harm's way, turning it into tar to cover the land with, smoke to fill the air with and pouring the rest into the sea, all seemed to outweigh the advantages of being able to get more quickly from one place to another - particularly when the place you arrived at had probably become, as a result of this, very similar to the place you had left, i.e. covered with tar, full of smoke and short of fish.

It's perfect for the robot recluse type, because it turns the lifestyle into more of a positive. No friends, no gf and not going out just means you get to save a lot more than normies.

The whole ERE, FI, FIRE lifestyle would give a lot of /r9k/ users direction.
>>
>>24839174
I don't think "wageslave existence" is even a thing tbqh. It's pretty easy to enjoy most min wage jobs, and anything professional is bound to be good if it's your actual interest and what you went to school for and shit. and even if it's not all it's cracked up to be, the money makes it worth it. It's not like you can't have other hobbies outside of your work, either.

all this wageslave/wagekuk stuff is just more /r9k/ being insecure about fucking everything because robots dont know shit about the real world
>>
>>24839259

Maybe wageslave existence doesn't exist, or maybe that's what you call your existence when you desperately need to leave your job and find another?

A lot of people stick with jobs they hate for a lot longer than they should. For example, I'm going to teach. If it's annoying/boring, i'll finish honing my teaching skills and simply climb the admin ladder. I can see being stuck in a job feeling like a wageslave existence, but I think such people just need to switch fields and possibly figure out a way to reduce their costs while they train in a new field. Cohabitation with fellow robots would be a great way to go.

NEET here looking for work. Well not really, my sleep pattern is so fucked I have zero confidence I could even show up for one. How do you think most potential employers will take my requirement that I work no more than 32 hours a week? What do you think government employment agencies will say to this? If they ask I will simply explain that its better for my health and better for business productivity to limit the work week to 4 days.

Also take into account whatever I will be doing I will likely be shit, since I have a 5 year unemployment gap and no skills/experience, I won't be some 9-5 cubical jockey.

Used to do exactly this when I was younger, doesn't work anymore though, and neither does walking up to an alarm I have to get out of bed to manually turn off- I just get right to napping because no energy to even shitpost. Coincidentally though I forgot that today I think I woke up naturally or due to outside noise after only 5 hours, and don't feel tired enough to take a nap, so I might just have some coffee to further prevent an afternoon nap, and adjust it successfully by falling asleep earlier tonight.

>>my requirement that I work no more than 32 hours a week?

I am sensitive free-spirited feminine manchild, go give your "man up and be a self-sacrificing disposable worker drone whose feelings don't matter" speech to someone else. Also, this is rooted in experience, 5 years ago I had a full time job, and it very easily became a 50 hour week with extra days and overtime. But even the regular 40 is too much for someone with a leisurely type B personality.

The science is out there showing that most people experience fatigue that negatively affects productivity in the current system, and we're better off working just 6 hour days 4 times a week.

>that said, it's easy enough to just say you want to only work part time
If it says FT or PT I put PT, but fpr availability I put 32 hours/week. Some p;laces consider 32 hours to be still full time though.

training is expensive, even for menial bullshit like stocking shelves

for example, I work for the military and have easily already cost tens of thousands of dollars in shit that is not wages. last summer alone, room and board was a couple thousand, and that's before the time of my superiors to train me, and the materiel effectively wasted as part of learning.

even in just a stock room, there's a few days of productivity lost to you having to learn the layout of the place, maybe any equipment you'll have to use (computer systems especially) etc etc

your body forces you to, just like society forces you to work in order to survive, hence wage slavery.
>and food and oxygen slavery
>>
>>24840765
>thats like saying no one is forcing you to east food and breathe oxygen either.
but those things are true

hunger strikes are a thing and breathing is an automatic thing you do because of various gas laws and chemical interactions

I am literally saying there's nothing wrong with being a pussy in almost every post tho

also it is a deeply relaxing job so far, I basically go to an office and either watch powerpoint presentations on things, help prepare powerpoint presentations on things, or help the people who joined more recently than me understand the powerpoint presentations we keep making

it's not at all like in movies or vidya. in fact, I have a hard time describing what I do at work when people ask, since I don't do a whole lot
>>
>>24840725
Your body requires certain things in order to live, you don't have them you will not survive. To provide for that you can either:
Be a bum

Sustenance farming

Live in the wilds

Work in a commune

Work from home

Start your own business

Work a job

Lotta options available, but in the end your going to work to some degree, and for many a job is the easier operation. Could I do better things? Perhaps, but using opportunity cost, and to get the things I want a job is the easier way. Plus unlike you, I don't feel low about myself in regards to work, and I don't have this idea thinking that society threatens me into work. Plus, value is derived from what you can provide and how people value what level you can provide, so no, no one is intrinsically valuable until you make yourself valuable.

I work only 8 hours in the day 5 days a week. Half the time at work I'm shit posting or texting friends. I hang out with friends and go on dates or pursue my hobbies after work and on weekends. It's kind of good to always have something to do and a steady income.
>>
>>24840864
That's a large stretch to call the natural needs of your body slavery. And no, society doesn't force you to get a job.

see faggots, this is yet another reason to chop a day of the work week, and an hour off the work day. Those who do actually work are fatigued and stress, and those who don't will just milk the clock cyberslacking and whatever else they do.

>>24841114
>>24838722
This happened to me when I moved back with my parents. The bus ride to work was over 90 minutes each way, and no one would hire me at other locations because I already got 3 raises, even though there was another store location literally 5 blocks away from me. So I just clung on until I fucked up and got fired, which was honestly a relief, but I'm poor as fuck now after 5 years of not working being a student and then full NEET for the last 3.

>>24841120
I'm sure there's a more specific work for it, but its just this myopic and bigoted attitude of assuming everyone is as fortunate as you, has the same options and ability to control their circumstances.

not far a stretch to call it wage slavery if for the vast majority of subjects working for a wage is practically the only available option to afford basic necessities.

here you run into a sort of conceptual problem because no matter what, you will have to work to live. so is all life slavery if you're not a trust fund babby? and even a trust fund babby would still have things to do to take advantage of his trust fund

>You realize teachers dont get the summer off right?
Yes we do. Where do you teach, Japan?

>Most of the time youll be teaching summer school or being forced to attend workshops

You're not forced to do anything. You can teach summer school if you'd like for extra cash, and while it's encouraged to attend workshops you don't have to do that either. And even if you do attend workshops, they take up barely any of your time anyway since you have fuck all else to do for two months.

>as well as prepping your next years classes in advance
Really? This takes you two and a half months to do? I don't even think about planning next year out until a fucking month has passed. Perhaps it's different since I'm a history teacher, but summer breaks have been fucking rad for me.

>>24841918
Not a teacher, but I know that in my region, High School teachers get every 5th year completely off, paid vacation.

They're paid like garbage on the whole, though. But still, I wouldn't mind being a teacher myself.

What kind of education do you need to be a teacher?
>>

I wouldn't say I had a problem but if you were me then you'd feel the same way hell if you were stuck in the same deadend job for 12 years and fed a load of B.S you'd be pissed off

i,m sick and tired of being treated like a third class citizen in my own god damn country i,m tired of everyone else getting promoted when I do all the fucking work

i,m 33 years old I down want to be living off 6.50 no more I want a better wage I got other skills that are in high demand that pays better

i'm not asking for the world 8.50 an hour 3 or 4 days a week is more then enough to cover my bills ill have more time to do stuff with my life

I don't want to wake up 4 years from now in the same shit job and my dad in the hospital about to check out for good and be told by my mom I got to pay the bar tab at the end of it all

I want my own place

I want a nice wife that I could fool around with from time to time

I want a kid

you may call me a normie but I want more out of life

oh and if there do happen to be any chefs reading this you can shove that John Dory up your arse

>>
>>24841533
Where did I say that everyone has the same opportunity as me? Or for that matter your implication that I am better off then anyone else. Pretty dirt poor myself, but I'm not going to go feeling bad for myself because of that and calling my job slavery. That's just asinine. Also I think you don't understand that a job is still a voluntary thing, you still have other options and in the end no one forces you.

WHY WON'T ANYONE HIRE ME

I DID THE FUCKING UNPAID INTERNSHIPS. I HAVE THE WORK EXPERIENCE. MORE EXPERIENCE THAN MOST WHO HAVE JUST GRADUATED COLLEGE. I KILL IN THE INTERVIEWS. WHY CAN'T ONE FUCKING PLACE JUST HIRE ME?

JUST GIVE ME THE FUCKING JOB. DO YOU KNOW HOW FUCKING ASHAMED I FEEL EVERY TIME MY PARENTS ASK HOW THE JOB HUNTING IS GOING AND I SAY "NOTHING YET"?

what's your degree?

bloxx
>>
>>24842106
So if I get the general education and something like, say, an engineering degree, would that qualify me to teach math or physics? Or does it have to be really specific and I need a BA in math for math, a BA in physics for physics, etc.

Would military experience count? Or could it count against me??

This tbqh, i'm lucky since the government pays my rent, food and gives me 120 dollars a month to blow until i'm 19, and since no school, i just work like 10 days a month average, i get to keep all my income for cute anime figures and my bike, life is good, family.

I still don't get why people have problems with getting to work with lots of traffic, unless you live like 30 Km away from where you work, getting a cycle is so much easier, not to mention really cheap. No dealing with traffic, no insurance, no gas. Just go to a pawn shop and get a cheap 80 dollar bike or something, you guys sitting in brought it upon yourself.
