People can be kind, even online. But even the fictional kindest man in existence would have a limit before they stop bothering and focus on other people. Online, anonymity means people get away with a lot of shit, but then even anonymity has its flaws where someone can still react to something. If an anonymous poster is a dick to another anonymous poster, even if that person had been kind prior to that post it's not like he's suddenly expected to not be a dick back. Not all people are kind, not all people are cruel dicks, but if a cruel dick hits the limit of someone's patience then there's no reason you wouldn't expect them to return the favor.
