I've worked in TV before they don't pay very well no matter your position. The young newer anchors are hoping to get experience to work for a bigger market or just get experience to move onto a better, maybe slightly related field.
One of the anchors at our station worked there for like 9 months before he left to do some office jocky job at a police station that payed more.
