my art teacher once told me he used to have a reputation for wearing tube socks so it looked normal. then once he gained that, he started putting formulas and answers to test on his leg and then when he needed to looked just put his right leg on his lap and uncover his sock.
Basically just watch the students the whole time. Dont grade other papers or surf the net.

it's way too hard to cheat in an exam room especially in those large gyms/auditoriums with several TA's prowling about UNLESS you can cheat off the person next to or in front of you somehow, then that's pretty simple, you just look around and if you catch a TA looking at you while you're looking at someones sheet, put your hand up and ask a question confidently
absolute best method of cheating would be having everything you need on your phone, asking to go to the washroom (a TA will escort you usually), make sure you have a discomforted look on your face as if you're about to shit, go to the washroom, sit on the shitter, check what you need to check, make sure to delete any powerpoints/history etc. just in case they find out you have a cellphone on you in which case you can give them your cell phone and confidently say "you can go ahead and fully check everything on my phone, history, whatever you can't find anything" - I once did that and our school has a policy of cellphone on you during exam = you fail the exam and I still got away with it
