Back then 4chan didn't have a catalog or quick reply, you had to go through the pages and it was a bitch. Most people would just refresh page 0 and thus a lot of threads would die, which is why catalog is a godsent for getting your thread seen.
When you replied to a thread it would take you back to the pages rather than the thread after the post successful screen.

Back in 2007 when i first arrived here 4chan was designed to keep you from posting, the community would either abuse you, ban you or destroy your life. Its was a filter, little things like noko and sage were used as tools to boot idiots off the site.
