yeah but you have to take the initiative. if you're introverted by nature (such as myself) then you'll spend most weekends locked away in your dorm/apartment wishing you were out living your young life. a fun social life just doesn't "happen" to most people, unless you're lucky.
I'm a sophomore in college and my freshman year was such a disappointment. I thought since it was college, everything would just flow naturally. the friends, the parties, the girlfriend, the fulfillment.. Except none of that actually happened. I only made a few friends and spent most of my time alone in my dorm room. college only intensified my problems.
you HAVE to be outgoing and take initiative otherwise it will be a miserable and lonely experience. you'll be surrounded by people who are obviously happier than you and it will be way more isolating than anything you experienced in high school.
