I hate to break it to you, but it is indeed true. Just yesterday I went out and bought lily buds, lotus, 4 different types of mushrooms, kimchi, some pickled carrots and radishes, szechuan peppercorns, and some chinese yeast and fungus balls.
I cook up my meals in bulk except for the really delicate stuff like soups, which is partially prepare and finish at mealtime. My time as a neet is far too valuable to waste cooking 3 times a day but my nutrition is far too important to eat the usual cafeteria slop the kekies like so much. Stock reduces well, I want ramen I toss in the homemade ramen, some vegetables, maybe egg or meat and it's party time. Stir fry is my favorite though. It's so easy to just whip together three or four dishes, portion, and freeze. Then I have the next two weeks meals ready unless I want something fancy like hot and sour soup.
Your probably wondering what the yeast and fungus balls are for. I make a special kind of thai rice wine using their sweet rice. It's kind of a desert wine. It doesn't last long because it turns sour fast, but if I wanted to I could pasteurize it and it would refrigerate ok. Anyway I just steam the rice, mix in the balls, and let it sit for a couple weeks then strain out any solids through a cheese cloth, sometimes I"ll let it sit and decant if I want to improve clarity somewhat but it will always be white and cloudy unless you run it through a beer/wine filter. It's delicious though. usually around 15-20%abv and very sweet. Perfect as a digestif. Japan makes the best cartoon and vidya, but the food is shit. Korea and china make the worst entertainment but their food is great. Being a neet means I get to pick and choose my asiabooing activities.
