Financial independence is laughably easy to achieve in the West. Poverty does not exist in America except by choice. If you're still a wageslave past 40 you have no one to blame but yourself. Here's a neat little tip. Owning private property is stupid as fuck if you want to be free. In a very small number of cases like homesteadfags it makes sense, but for your typical midtown and suburbanite drones renting will always be the superior option. A home is always ALWAYS a liability.
