Start a nightshift job tonight lads, quite upset desu, I start at 11 and I need to get a train and bus to get there, the problem is I will arrive just outside my work at 10:58 according to google or 9:58. So I either have to wait pretty much 40 minutes each day or narrowly cut it very short by 2 minutes. I'm so fucking sad, I can't face being late but don't want to do fuck all for 40~ minute each day since I'm already spending 1 hour travel to get there ffs. Should I just take the 10:58 option and hopefully I won't be late which could be likely since if the train or bus is a minute late it will fuck me over.

To be fair playing as OPMs was an incredibly dull game before EU4. You'd most likely have no claims, so couldn't declare war on anyone, any provinces you did take would take 50 years to become cores, and there would be several countries near you who could easily annex you if you got on their bad side.

I always tend to get bored after a while, usually right as the country starts being really successful. I formed the Netherlands in one game, and was planning to start colonising, but got bored. Played as Hormuz in another, was building up a trade empire off in India, and got bored of that. Most recently was a Tibet game. United the country and started conquering bits of China, but I haven't touched it in a while.
This is partly because Paradox seems to update fairly regularly and make previous save files unplayable, though.

Protip, the second part of the drive is actually the model number, usually [##xxxx##] (though obviously the WD## is capacity). Either way, I'm pretty surprised it'd just fail like that on a WD, it didn't get knocked or anything, did it? Does it still show up in the BIOS of your system?
I just checked the logic behind people doing the 'freezer trick' and it's in order to release the heads from the platter or free up motor bearings, which is moot in the case of a modern 3.5in drive due to the fact they have parking stands instead of parking the heads on the inner rim of the platter. Most examples are with old things like Maxtors.

Look at it this way, redownloading everything you'll have an opportunity to have everything nicely sorted and in the highest quality which might have become available since you previously downloaded it.
If you're particularly worried about failure, you could either get a RAID1 or a RAID5 setup. Alternatively, getting a NAS which in a few cases comes with a more 'simple' RAID5 config on setup since rebuilds for them if one goes stale can be a pain if you set it all up yourself.

That's largely why I brought up the idea of a NAS, because typically they'll 'hide' all the complications of hardware vs software based gear. Some units for instance will warn you when a drive is starting to become weak and will actively force you to replace it before it will operate, so it can rebuild the RAID through parity.
If it's a hardware-based raid then in most cases if you want to rebuild it you need to use one of the same cards in a different PC and/or a PC with the same RAID chip. You -could- rebuild the raid purely by imaging each drive and reconstructing them with software, but it's a pain in the arse to do.
And I've heard people argue that point, but I haven't had much actual solid experience with that being the case; the only time I would recommend you don't do that is if you're using Seagate drives. In some cases there are much less reliable drives from certain manufacturing sites, and when you order them in bulk through say a prebuilt NAS, they will all be the same site and date designation. In these cases yes, I've seen a few drives fail within quite rapid succession if they're a questionable production run.
You should stay the hell away from Seagate 2/3TB DM001/.14 drives in the first place, their reliability is atrocious, failures are usually terminal.
The reason I say I'm quite surprised at your WD failing rapidly like that is typically they fail over time and give you chance to get everything off it, rather than dying spontaneously. Cont-

My personal advice if you're worried about data loss would be to use a RAID1 mirror which consists of a DT01ACA and a WD30 as to eliminate the chances of a failure occuring with one particular production run; Toshiba and WD are both very good choices for reliability but ultimately the only company I'd say you shouldn't touch is Seagate unless it's a 4TB+ model. Obviously it means having one drive as redundancy but if one fails it's relatively painless to fix the issue.
Oh and if you haven't already as your post would suggest, I'd recommend getting an SSD as your boot drive, it makes quite a significant difference and you can pick up decent quality ones at a reasonable price these days, failure rate on SSDs is significantly smaller too due to the lack of moving parts, it's usually firmware or overheating which kills most of those.

Obviously, it's entirely subjective according to different experiences. Some drives will be bad, some drives will be far better than their namesake dictates. Hell, I still have a working Maxtor 80GB kicking around somewhere, with numerous much newer failed drives.
I can only advise based on what I've seen, and the 2TB/3TB Seagate drives are quite easily the worst drives I recieve to work on in terms of success and volume. Possibly only trumped by the fat 2/3TB WD 2.5in drives which are probably about as unreliable and also of a high volume of failures. The newer revision of them does seem more reliable, and some newer designated 2TB Seagates are also a lot rarer to see broken than others.

It's probably going to sound bizarre saying this, but .11s are from my experience a lot more reliable than they're usually given credit for - I had three of them last well beyond expected lifespan before -slowly- dying. The biggest problem with .11s was a rather prevalent and immobilizing firmware fault rather than a hardware failure. If you could fix that through using diagnostics, they're actually pretty tidy runners.

I think probably the best way to deal with that is to run a R/W benchmark on it and see how accurate it is to the intended speeds, but since I deal with failures almost exclusively I can't really give proper advice on that sorry. I have no personal experience with it, instead tertiary experience with someone I know having some problems (which turned out to be a major issue that requires meds - took YEARS before it was actually caught).
Going through GPs, it could be forever until you get some legitimate assistance, not least because most mental health care is fucking awful and you'll get fobbed off by a lot of GPs unless you have physical proof of issues.
You can pay to have a private session for a psych eval, chances are after one appointment you'll have a decent idea of whether it's a legitimate issue. It also gives you an opportunity to have something to refer a GP to in case you needed to go on to further treatment, but didn't want to pay for continuing private care (because that shit is expensive). They might even refer you to NHS treatment directly if they think you need it.
Ultimately, if you're struggling to work up the courage to talk to someone about it, you just need to remember that these people are trained professionals at this stuff and will know what to say or do with regards to your problems. Difficult as it may be, you'll most likely feel better if you go and get something done from it regardless of who you see.
