Hard to tell. My childhood wasn't that pretty. Parents used to mock me alot and there's a short story connected to the czech tradition. At 5th December, we celebrate the Saint Mikulas day. People get dressed up as St. Mikulas (white beard, red/white robe, hat and staff) and as angels and devils. These accompany single Mikulas as they stroll around the neighbourhood and visiting family's younglings. Kids must prove Mikulas they behaved well, mostly by singing some song or reciting a poem and then they get rewarded by Mikolas (by sweets). Well, my parents commissioned one of these Mikolas party, which had quite lot of devils there (they probably gave them some booze as a payment). And then parents let the devils in, they then grabbed me, threw me into the sack and carried me few streets away on their backs. I was about 6 years old then and I was scared shitless.

The income is shit indeed. But it's something you have to get over it. I don't consider myself as poor although many available things can be really hard to get (like flats, cars or better electronics). The fact czech are often trying to rip off each other doesn't add to the situation.
