I'd try to get off the draft for religious reasons first of all but if joining the 7th Day Adventists doesn't work I'd just chop off toes.

I'd use it as an opportunity to start a new life. Hopefully I get sent to a region where I'll actually see some action instead of dicking around in a dessert military base for a few months. Then If one of us gets blown up beyond recognition i'll switch dog tags. Then i'll just come back with a new name and identity and go off the grid. No more responsibility

Maybe a draft will motivate people to control our government and subvert the interests of the plutocrats and get us out of this war. Maybe the war will be necessary. Either way, somebody must fight. My parents and their parents didn't sacrifice so much for me so I could sit back selfishly and let others do the hard work for me.

I think we should reinstitute national service in this country and I'm currently signing up as a reservist. If we go to war I will be happy to fight for Queen and Country.

As a South African this may actually happen in few years time. The government plans to bring back mandatory military service for young men, like during apartheid (my dad and all my uncles served two years) expect now it'll be for everyone, not just whites. Unsure how it'll affect me, since it historically applied to boys just leaving school. Since we don't have any wars to fight and we're pretty much a chinese colony, I don't see anyone having to do much fighting.
If I am conscripted I'll probably have to deal with a fuckton of racism from officers.

Well if there's a draft I assume there's a war on? So I'd probably get murdered in my sleep during boot camp, and that's assuming I even make it to Basic, and I'm not murdered by an angry lynch mob or sent to an internment camp.

Join the military now, you pleb. Soldiers are still being deployed to Afghanistan and the situation in Iraq anf syria is worsening. Go into a combat MOS and try to go airborne or 75th rangers. Pretty much guaranteed a combat deployment.

Try to maneuver myself into a job or officer position that sets me up with good career prospects when I discharge. Save up what is essentially an entirely disposable income. Make connections and buddies where I can.

Hailing from an Island, I'd love to be in the Navy, preferably submarines, but light cruisers/battle cruisers work fine too. Its probably the safest option, at least in the beginning, naval combat is tricky to get out, and a sinking ship can mean certain death. I'd work with ship's navigation, and try to sing a few shanties before we all die, either from SSM, ASM, bombs from the sky, or torpedoed/shelled from an opposing ship. If we could mutiny against the captain and flee, that'd cool too.
