It's 2015, Robots. Why don't you own the superior mode of transport yet?
>>

I dont have money. Bikes are cool tho, would rather settle for any bike than auto
>>

I don't want to get run off the road by some fat middle aged women texting while driving.

Whats a good bike to start off with?

Because I got hit by a u-turning chav in a Mercedes this September.

I hit a traffic sign with my stomach afterwards; digestive system collapsed, ruptured spleen and left kidney, traumatic hernia, few fractured ribs and right ankle. Doctor said that being a fat pig kept my guts inside. I even posted a picture of my stitched belly in /r9k/ not so long ago. Got called a "horror-grade villain".
>>
>>24771947
Fuck man I don't even ride a bike but that sounds horrible. Sorry to hear that, really wish some dickheads would be more careful on the roads.

Ninja 250-300 is what many beginners go with. I'd recommend the 300 because it has just enough balls to not feel like a scooter.

A rebel.
He's probably one of those faggots who only touches crotch rockets.
>>
>>24772063
Ninja 250 gets recommended by everyone, as long as you're not above 6"0' it'll be comfortable and as long as you're less than 190-200lb it should still perform really well.

Another thing I've seen recommended if you're bigger is the GS500f, most do 250 though.

Fuck

How/how will the accident affect you long term? Is your digestive system going to be repaired?
Surprised you're not dead with all that and the ruptured spleen and left kidney, christ.

Wait for another decade before having an accident like that and you can come back as a literal cyborg.

I think I'm in love with this thing.

>>
>>24772235
My digestive system got fixed actualy. It's been two months since I got released from the hospital to home treatment but so far so good. I can shit normally. But the other possible outcome was getting some sort of port, with hose connected to it, so the shit can flow to the bag strapped to your waist. I don't know how I would be able getting over that if it would happen.

>>24772245
Nah, just different light conditions. My belly bag is still sickly white.
>>
>>24772306
I had a chance to test drive this and dude, that's some castrated Harley on your pic.
>>
>>24772394
Those things are disgusting. When I was a teenager a mate introduced me to a guy he knew and he had a bag on his waist he never let away from him, asked my mate what it was about and apparently some Chinese stabbed him in the asshole for some reason so deep it fucked his colon, hence the bag.
>>
Familiarize yourself with your state's lemon laws before buying any vehicle.

If you live in Illinois and your new bike is a huge titanic piece of shit that defies any attempt at repair under warranty, you're pretty much up shit creek.

There's no recourse.
>>
>>24769486

Suzuki GS500 if you can find one used from a second hand source.

If you're short, or not very strong, or you don't want to risk buying second hand, you could go for the Suzuki TU250X.

Suzukis are great bikes.

Stay the fuck away from anything made in India or mainland China.
>>
>>24772438
A colleague of my friend got this bag because of some cancer. His cancer got cured but the bag was permanent. He commited suicide by jumping into the train's way.
>>
>>24772427
Well is there any other bike with the same look?

That's exactly the look i want
>>
>>24772668
Yeah but they're all expensive as fuck.
>>
>>24772668
If you really like it, get it then. It will be you riding, not me. But note it's coming from the guy who's riding naked crotchrockets for the most time (because I like both the look and the performance). But to be quite honest, that H-D is really boring. It even lacks some signature torque, and has electronic limiters everywhere (it has speed limits for each gear) which surprised me most. I hoped for some fabled torque and bad-ass potato chug sound but all I got was a sterile scooter dressed as a Harley with manual gearbox.

I'm no expert at Harleys but you can't go wrong with higher cubatures, actualy I'd say the more the better.

I'm going to sleep, it's 3:45am (europoorman here). I'm sure some Harley enthausiast will help you better.
>>
>>24772858

generally every cruiser/chopper under 1000cc is a sterile scooter.

>something small that wont kill you

I would actually say the opposite. Start with around a 500cc - 600cc basic model and avoid the sporty ones. I started on a 600cc to get my license and it feels pretty natural. I'd say those sporty 250 - 300cc models are much more dangerous because they are much lighter and much more unwieldy with their relatively tiny wheels. Once you start catching gusts of wind from the side on a 250cc you'll be going all over the place.

Something like pic related ( Honda CB600F ) will last you and is one of the most safe and reliable motorcycles. You can get the older models relatively cheap.

>motorcycles are cheaper than cars
No, they really aren't. Maybe the initial purchase but an old Honda Accord is just as cheap as an old Honda CBR600 and then there's all the other costs. Even when I don't do trackdays I still have to buy a set of tires every other month and do an oil change which comes to $300. The gas mileage really isn't that much better if you have a decently fast bike. My car(Jetta TDI) gets better gas mileage than my GSXR track bike and my Z1000 daily. My car also doesn't require as much maintenance and do I need to mention tires again? If you live in BFE and only ride on straight boring ass roads and never go to the racetrack than maybe motorcycles are cheaper than cars. I've seen many motorcyclists list the cost of riding compared to their cars and riding is always more expensive. I personally would save $600-$1,200 a month if I stopped riding. But then again I actually do ride and am not some poseur from Nebraska that makes the same stupid thread every other week.

Think before speaking, you silly cunt. I've had 2 Pilot road 4's that have slammed more then 20 thousand kilometers on my bike. A bike that is also abused on the street constantly and ridden on twisties almost 4-5 times a week.

The only thing people have to watch our for (which heavily depends on country) is the following;
>Service
>Oil
>Insurance

I like to change my oil every 3 thousand kilometers on the track, and change it every 5-6thousand kilometers when on the road. The other thing is servicing if you cant do it yourself.

But even then it's relatively cheap, even valve adjustments don't cost that much as long as it isn't some Italian bike.

Bikes and cars are completely different, you don't turn a bike like you turn that steering-wheel. Throttle on super-sport bikes are also very fragile. Don't lean enough or chicken-out and accidentally give it throttle and you'll end up in a tree.

>>
Not a fan of motorcyclists, desu. Think of the douchiest car you can and how they're always zipping through traffic doing dangerous shit on the road; that's 90% of bikers here. Lane splitting at 90 through a traffic jam is a great way to introduce trauma to my kid as he sees your head separate from your body because you can't drive like you're not the only person on the road, not to mention the damage to my vehicle when you're slamming into the back of it because I'm changing lanes and you think you have the right of way always when you're doing the aforementioned lane splitting.

I know insurance should cover the cost, but it won't cover the impact on my time and my kid's sanity. Not many people in this state can drive for shit anyhow, so I guess I don't hate bikers much more than everybody else on the road.
>>

Ignore those people recommended a 250-300. Once you're on the highway, you're going to be fucked. Move up to a 500.
>>
>>24773476
What sort of spastic would use a sport bike as a daily. Just get a cb400 or something. My cbs tires last 7000km at least. Service is like $300 every 6000km. considering my daily commute is 60km round trip fuel only cost me $30 a week. That's FAR cheaper then any car I've ever had
>>
>>24775773
This. I have a 2014 MT-07 and tires last about 5000km and fuel is about $50 a week and service is every 6000km with a major one every 12000km and the major one cost $500. considering how much money I save riding the bike I've managed to save up about 15k over the year even after buying heaps of weeb shit
