>What sort of life do you live?

If you can call it life, I guess you could describe it as hellish.
>>
I'm 22 but I could easily see myself being on 4chan, well, forever. So I find it hard to judge when older people are here.
>>
>>24757375
But why? Did you fuck up your education and as a result have to live with your parents? Are you still a NEETfag? What's so bad about it?

>>24757414
I already struggle to find myself here everyday. 4chan is so similar to all the other sites now there's little point in coming here that often.
>>
I'm 18 but I've been on 4chan since I was 12.
I am sure it's done some irreparable damage to me. I am miserable constantly and absolutely suicidal. I will be coming here until it gets shut down honestly. No where else have I found such a good community.
>>
>>24757320
31 here.

Fucking robot blox. I'm not even original.
>>
>>24757435
Silly bastard. I guess you cam here because it was the cool edgy sight and you were impressionable enough to let retards convince you that the world is as terrible as they think? You're young as fuck, change your outlook.

>>24757439
How
>>
27. Accountant. Hate my life. Hate myself.
>>
I'm 36. I'm here because this is the internet experience I've always enjoyed and as the idea of forums has pretty much died, where else can you go?

Perhaps a better question is why are you kids here all these years later trying to copy old people and their ancient forms of online interaction?
>>
>>24757320

What do you think happens between 20-25 that makes people leave?
>>
>>24757454
Nah I came because it was hilarious. Most everyone has a good sense of humor.
I didn't really need convincing that the world is terrible. I've had a million things happen to me that made me realize the world is cancerous. I'm not above being cancerous though, I'm shit just like everyone else.
>>
>>24757481

It's a funny notion, really. It's like the people saying it are so young and stupid and sheltered and oblivious that they actually believe they're going to magically become better people
>>
>>24757455
>Accountant
Wise choice, though. Or is it shit in your country? Most places it seems to be the best choice for an empty but well paid career.

>>24757467
>why are you kids all here
Mate, most of the people you used to refer to as kids are in early 20s now. People used to come here because it was the edgy secret club, then this place became massively synced with the rest of the internet because people realized only using one site was stupid and now the content here is pretty much the same as everywhere else.

Only difference is people here have some sort of superiority complex which is ridiculous.

>>24757481
20-25 seems to be the point in this generation where people are starting real life/work/further education and as such their social, professional or educational duties mean they don't have as much time.
This site doesn't have much draw other than familiarity anymore, and I figured as people mature they'll stop coming somewhere they only really sued because they didn't use anything else.

>>24757503
>Bad things happen to me because the world is bad
No, you were just unlucky. Chin up and get on with things anon, otherwise you're a pessimistic faggot who nobody will like. Bad things happened to me too. Real bad.

>>24757510
Not about becoming a better person, just wondering what people are still doing hanging around here after so damn long even though this place bears almost no resemblance to what it used to be. What site you use doesn't define you as a person mate.
>>
>>24757320

32

Then again, r9k used to be way more fucked up, damaged and "roboty"

Now of course it's mostly about college boys whose only problem in life is that they're late with some paper they have to write or because "she" (what's her name, robots?) didn't return their love or some normie shit like that

still, i come here every once in a while, mainly for the nostalgia, the memes and when i'm tired of more political sites
>>
>>24757538

>20-25 seems to be the point in this generation where people are starting real life/work/further education and as such their social, professional or educational duties mean they don't have as much time.

For normies, yes. But if you wound up here in the first place this probably doesn't apply.
>>
>>24757538

>this place became massively synced with the rest of the internet

kek
>>
>>24757538
>bad things happen to me because the world is bad
Pretty much, yeah. Awful things have happened to both us of that are out of our control. The fact that being simply being unlucky led to those things happening is pretty good evidence the world isn't great.
Not that I mope about everyday blaming everyone else. I am the problem, I am the reason for all my issues, and that's the end of that.
>>
>>24757320
I wouldn't exactly call it a life.
>>
>>24757320
> 26 year old nonwhite manlet

>normies
4chan is one of the best known sites on the internet now, and on 4chan /r9k/ is now one of the most popular boards. Regardless of what it used to be, the people you call "normies" flock here for the funny memes and greentext stories. There are facebook pages, twitter accounts and all sorts dedicated to screencapping stuff from here to repost. This isn't a board for the fucked up or bullied or sad lonely anons, not anymore. It's just /b/ II.

>>24757592
Same memes, same topics, same everything. Only difference is people here think this place is better for some reason.

>>24757599
That's better. As long as you're not one of those sad little faggots who think there's no hope for anyone. If you're born in a decent country into any semblance of a decent family it's easy mode if you work hard and settle for average-tier life at best.

>tfw live in a pretty small flat and work an average paying job
>Decorated the flat well, own most of the things I want, social life is pretty good and I enjoy work 4 days out of 5
>No debt

Shits okay anon.

>>24757651
>Get a shit tier part time job
>Make up shit related to your degree that makes you sound employable
>Either do some research in programming careers or drop it and fastrack to another career
>Make friends on courses/through starting new hobbies/any scheduled activity which has you be in the same place as some people at the same times
>Forget gf
>As long as you see girls as potential gfs you will always be autistic about them
>Friends first
>Gf usually just sort of happens later
>>
>>24757320
I'm 27.
I've been here since I was 17 I believe and 4chan is just a part of me now.
A sad and lonely one filled with fear and a constant loathing of myself. You know, the usual.
>>
>>24757538
Accountant is good in my country, doing exams though. Boss is a tosspot. Being a robot doesn't help. Sounds basic but I recently realised I need to broaden my horizons. And probably get off this place.
>>

>>24757320

26. I've been on 4chan since 2007. You don't just stop coming here.

I'm a paramedic for my city's Fire/EMS department.
>>
>>24757709
Meh. If you have a good social life accountant is based, man. Great money, easy respect for your career and it doesn't require anything other than time if you're lucky. Manage other parts of your life well and you're sorted
>>
>>24757320
38 here. I discovered this forum fairly recently. When you're my age and and facing a second divorce, which will result in the rest of my life being one of loneliness and destitute poverty, I think I fit in quite well actually.
>>
27 here. I just want a fucking girlfriend.
>>
>>24757690

I miss the days when clickbait SJW article threads got saged instead of 400 replies.
>>
>>24757736
Nah, you want affection which isn't obligatory. You need friends, then you need a relationship. Otherwise it won't be healthy mate.
>>
Thank you to the anon providing kind words and advice. What brings you here?

>Children thinking this is their hangout

I'm OP.
I used to lurk until suicide threads arrived and see if I could leave any helpful advice.

>>24757817
Fuck off gramps, there is literally no limit to who can view and post on this site. You're not more or less welcome than anyone.
>>
26 here. I've been on 4chan since about 2003/4 so I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

I work in the game industry and live on my own. I technically have a GF but it's turned into a long distance thing which is great because I dislike women.
>>
>>24757853
Before you get flooded with c u c k replies I wanted to ask, how do you work in the "game industry"?

Are you into coding or art or where do you fit in? I have a friend who was stupid enough to take a university degree in video game design and he thinks he's going to make the next GTA.
>>
>>24757846
>there is literally no limit to who can view and post on this site.
>You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.
I wish you would leave.
>>
>>24757871
I did a degree in game design, kek. I've been a tester, artist and designer. The degree wasn't pointless but I wish I did computer science.

Right now I'm back testing with a new company which is terrible, but in the new year I'm hopefully moving back into art.
>>
>>24757879
But there is no real age verification to post past "I promise I'm over 18!"
There is no limit on who can post, from where, or how much.

Pretty much anyone can come here, and I could say "I was here the day before you were" and there's no real way to argue because this is an anonymous imageboard and nobody gives a fuck, senpai.

Sorry your sekrit club isn't yours anymore.

How difficult was it originally to get placement? Is vidya a viable career where you are?

I'm in Northern Ireland and christ knows it isn't big here. The biggest thing here is that a guy from Queens made that Prop Hunt mod.
>>
>>24757929
I'm in the UK (England, moved to Scotland for this job). To be honest it's so dependent on your current location. I got a testing job once because I had a bit of experience and lived 20 minutes from the studio.

It's viable, but if you're smart enough to be a game programmer, you're smart enough to earn more money coding software. Testing is bloody easy though, I think there's a Bioware customer support office in Ireland right? That'd be easy to get into if you want to be an EA shill.

I'm meant to start interviewing people for testing jobs come January but I have no idea how thats going to go considering I've never interviewed for people before

Turning 26 in less than a month.

I have a low level IT job that pays okay since I have a cheap lifestyle, I browse internet at night until I feel sleepy. Rinse and repeat.

I express my support to all browsing this board.

live at home with mommy and daddy. work a full time wageslave job making shit money ($35k/yr) despite having a college degree.

getting ready to move out in august, so i can go to grad school for my masters.
>>
I was like that. You think one day things are going to turn around for you and you'll suddenly find your thing and not want to do the time wasting stuff anymore. If anything your life with age gets worse, fewer people in it, less time, body going, not as optimistic and more stuck. It should be older guys saying why are you here youngsters? You should be out enjoying what you have because it goes.
>>
>>24759156

Cause what I have as a youngster kind of sucks

22 here
>>
I'm 29, married and have a 2 year old son. I'm in the Navy and have been coming to /r9k/ since "no croissants today, boss". I guess I was pretty depressed for a long time just trudging away, staying with my mom and going to community college. Once /r9k/ started to change, I realized it could be so much worse and all my problems were well within my ability to change, so I finished my associates degree, enlisted in the navy and got the fuck away from my toxic family. Life has dramatically improved since that day and I only really visit the board as a reminder of what not to be (someone that blames my misery on everyone else instead of figuring out what's bothering me and eliminating it from my life or making a change).
>>
>>24759156
>It should be older guys saying why are you here youngsters? You should be out enjoying what you have because it goes.

this is the truth right here. i cannot imagine wasting my youth on this shitty board.

I'm 28. I tell people I'm 26 and everyone believes it. I do this because I feel like I lost at least four years of my life due to my parents essentially locking me up in our house and not letting me outside except to go to school for about three years, and beating me constantly for the "horrible" things I did to them like getting math problems wrong on homework and making them stay up all night to make sure my homework was perfect.

So now I have pretty bad borderline personality disorder and bipolarism, of which I'm taking lamotrigine for. I'm actually pretty content now; I've got a good job, a nice apartment, a new car, and I've got plenty saved up for a house eventually.

I come here because you're my people. As stupid as this sounds, I hate normies with a fucking passion. I've been looking for a new room to rent, and all of these people whose hobbies include stupid shit like "hiking" and "biking" and "going to wine bars with friends" fucking sickens me. I want jaded, disgusting people to hang out with, because they're much more interesting to me than someone who's fallen in line with their facade. When I was working in the big city, I got along better with construction workers and street cleaners and homeless than I did my own coworkers.

And currently, you guys fill the hole in my heart until I find people I actually like as friends, since I haven't had any since college.

26. average-tier life.
