It's viable, but if you're smart enough to be a game programmer, you're smart enough to earn more money coding software. Testing is bloody easy though, I think there's a Bioware customer support office in Ireland right? That'd be easy to get into if you want to be an EA shill.

I'm 29, married and have a 2 year old son. I'm in the Navy and have been coming to /r9k/ since "no croissants today, boss". I guess I was pretty depressed for a long time just trudging away, staying with my mom and going to community college. Once /r9k/ started to change, I realized it could be so much worse and all my problems were well within my ability to change, so I finished my associates degree, enlisted in the navy and got the fuck away from my toxic family. I do this because I feel like I lost at least four years of my life due to my parents essentially locking me up in our house and not letting me outside except to go to school for about three years, and beating me constantly for the "horrible" things I did to them like getting math problems wrong on homework and making them stay up all night to make sure my homework was perfect.
So now I have pretty bad borderline personality disorder and bipolarism, of which I'm taking lamotrigine for. I'm actually pretty content now; I've got a good job, a nice apartment, a new car, and I've got plenty saved up for a house eventually.
