I've done the NEET life (for five years) and have done the working live (for seven years). Honestly I would not want to go back to the NEET life.
Every time I interacted with other "NEETs" it gave me a window into one of the worst communities imaginable. Depression was rampant, self loathing, paranoia, and just plan inability to be human. Hygiene was next to nonexistent among a good number of them. I feel sorry for them, because the vast majority of NEETs do not maintain an environment conducive for a healthy mental condition. I mainly garnered this information through steam groups and various other online communities, NEETs seem to want someone to talk to so as soon as someone seems nice they latch on.
I helped a few out, or tried. There was a guy I helped learn to speak. I don't mean learn to speak english. He was incapable of holding a conversation without having panic attacks and I coached him through it for a solid two months. He was one of the main reasons I stopped being a NEET.
It just doesn't seem healthy. If you're the exception good show man, but dear lord this board itself is evidence to the fact it really doesn't work too well.
I like my life now. I have a job I enjoy and plenty of free time. Work keeps me focused and allows me to enjoy vidya each evening. Distance makes hearts grow fonder is not something that applies just to romance. Absence makes leisure all the more pleasurable.

Honestly, the work force is not phased by these threads. The only reason these threads keep popping up is for the poor NEETs to keep the illusion that their life is enjoyable.
I started working immediately after I finished high school. A year later I had three NEET months, and it was the worst. The same every day, no purpose in life.
Right now I'm studying to become a teacher one day. I'm taking more courses than my fellows because I want to stay busy. It is simply great to have some goals and structure in your life. Sure it is difficult and exhausting sometimes, but I wouldn't want to go back, never ever.
Later on I will lose a lot of money to taxes in order to support people that are mentally incapable of taking care of their own life. That's okay. NEETs won't reproduce, so it is just a matter of time. They won't have children with the same unfitting genes.
