Mods aren't necessarily homophobic, they just understand that some threads are filled with avatarfagging. They also really despise specifically Noun and Cebruz.

Lawlessness is the least of your attractions when the board consists of anime caps of the same three girls filling up thread after thread for five fucking pages

They delete any loosely-ERP/steam related threads even if there's no avatarfagging going on, they definitely don't like the subculture, which I think is silly because the board culture should be up to the users and not individuals, but this sentence breaks tyrannical rules so w/e.

Noun is awesome and cebby is hilarious.

>board culture should be up to the users and not individuals
Do you want racebait and fembot feel threads on the front page constantly? YLYL, trap, and gore threads? People respond to garbage and love participating in flame wars they've had a thousand times before. If you let a board go completely unmoderated it will generally go to shit eventually.

ERP is fairly cancerous, mainly because it inevitably descends into orbiting and dating drama. Also, ERPers s-stutter, abuse spoilertext, and use the cancer squiggle~

They're a fairly annoying bunch. Mods can do almost whatever they want with rule 3 anyways. Also, Noun is a boring, hypersexual retard and Cebruz has borderline personality disorder.

It doesn't matter what I want, I'd rather it was up to a majority, a democracy. That's what 4chan used to be. These days each board is heavily influenced by what the mods want it to be. And I think that's lame. I'd rather it was a combination that accurately reflected the poster base, instead of having 10% of that poster base be censored. This website has changed for the worse, imo.

I'm just an oldfag pay no mind to me I'm outdated and the mods are half a decade younger than me at the very least.

I mean whatever makes you feel better. There was a time before that that moderation wasn't something that was visible at all outside of /b/ in the form of jokes. The website has gone very far downhill recently as moderators have tried to shape boards into their own visions of what they should be instead of leaving it up to the people that post there.
>>
>>24725636
>I'd rather it was up to a majority, a democracy
A small minority of posters can keep garbage on the front page fairly easily. Fast boards generally go to shit because threads which require low effort responses, or threads which invite flame wars which keep the thread on autobump, are usually are bumped frequently, while threads which require high effort responses (threads with good discussion or threads that generate OC) generally get responses less frequently. Democracy on 4chan is roll threads, "Is liking traps gay?", racebait, and other cancer. This will only change if a board becomes exclusive enough that new posters don't come in and respond to formulaic trash, which will never happen on 4chan, or if mods delete the garbage most people with a passing familiarity with this site are tired of.

This implies that threads that require effort to respond to are inherently better than threads that do not, hence, lack of democracy.

If a majority of posters don't wish to respond to threads that require effort to respond to, I do not see why it should be that way. It is tyrannical to assume that what you want is inherently better than what a majority wants.
>>
>>24725881
Probably a majority of posters here would prefer if more threads were original greentext threads. Something being more prevalent does not mean it is what most people on a board want to see. Also, why is democracy valuable in an imageboard? You can say quality of discussion is subjective, and so the majority should rule, but is it really the best to let people stagnate within played out conversations that half of the people on a website are tired of?

is it better to delete those conversations before they are played out by people who have not played them out? I don't see how that does anything but discourage people from using an anonymous image board for anonymous image posting.

>I don't see how that does anything but discourage people from using an anonymous image board for anonymous image posting.
It slows down activity to give higher effort threads a chance. Moderation, ideally, fosters threads that everybody can enjoy, instead of people who have only been here for less than six months.

My existence of using 4chan since '06 and posting on /r9k/ on day one while wanting steam threads and ERP threads to exist disproves your claim.

Thinking certain threads large portions of the populace want to exist as subjectively cancerous and having the power to delete them is abuse of moderation, particularly when they don't violate any rules.

I don't partake in them, but if people want them to exist and participate, that's their biz and they are using an anonymous image board exactly how it should be used.
>>
>>24726408
The majority does not decide what is worthwhile. desu, neither does anybody else, but something is not good because a lot of people want it. The moderation at 4chan are supposed to do what they do in the interests of 4chan as a company. It has nothing to do with ethics.

>>

>deleting steam friend threads makes 4chan as a business profit
I said "supposed to". Plenty of people find Steam friend/ERP/bullying threads annoying, just like people find racebait/mandingo threads annoying, and so mods delete threads that people complain about to retain their customers. Theoretically. In practice mods are pretty biased.

While that does indeed work, it is not the best solution because that is no different from having a circle of friends, since you end up recognizing everyone after some time.
To keep a board's quality and content, you have to make it so that it's hard for new people to blend in, but not impossible if they are truly interested on the hobbie and are willing to lurk.
But a popular imageboard like 4chan is just really hard to deal with
>>
>>24726911
Theoretically, 20% of the people who lurk a board are responsible for keeping 30% of the threads at the top of the catalog. Gradually, other people leave the board for this reason. This hurts business.

>>24726919
>that is no different from having a circle of friends
This actually isn't that bad. Neither is what you suggest, but new posters have to really trickle in if you want a board to retain a high quality of posting even without moderation.

I can understand stricter moderation on boards like a or v since they have specific topics, but since r9k doesn't really have a purpose outside of the robot, I'd rather it just be a free for all.

In case the person who was replying to every post with unnecessary smug cancer pictures reads this, I want you to know that you fit the "believes they're an 'oldfag' because they came here in 2006, the when the first wave of newfags arrived" posting style to a T. You're only slightly better than the people who came here in 2010/2011.
