Yes, I am dumb, Ive been using torrents for awhile but only recently started grabbing stuff with less than 100 peers so never run into it before.

Nothing now, but at one point they tried to sneakily bundle in a bitcoin miner. Tons of people got pissed and started boycotting them, their reputation has never recovered.
Besides that they haven't made a good version since 2.2.1, all versions past that were shit. I stuck on that version for years, but magnet support was lacking, and at some point you just have to give up on using a 6 year old client. I'm on Deluge now, never looking back.
